Why is the Tachometer Gray Background ?

You could go the sun coast route.. Not factory.. But I'd do it if I was stuck with silver

White on gray/silver, by the way has a substantially lower contrast value (78 for a "medium" gray) than black/white, and is just barely ("just barely" = 70+) workable as a combination.

every car has had some form of LED or LCD digital information for decades , and I am still surprised when some have near total wash out with polarized sunglasses, which I have worn for decades outdoors anytime the sun is out , year round, to delay cataracts in the future you would think viewing the mock up dash through a polarized screen would be a simple and mandatory part of the interior development process of any new vehicle

Yes, you would think that would be basic R&D.
I didn't notice any problems with polarized glasses and the grey tach dial.

BTW, for any of you guys ordering a car, I'd strongly suggest checking the WHITE gauge face option on your build to avoid that, and make sure the Tach is included in the option package.
