You could go the sun coast route.. Not factory.. But I'd do it if I was stuck with silver

Black on white has the same contrast value (91) as white on black. With both combinations, however, the lettering, especially if it is smaller can be overwhelmed by the background. The "best" color combinations for readability are probably black (or very dark blue) on yellow, which has slightly lower contrast (black on yellow = 89) but tends to be absorbed less by the background. Aesthetically, however, it may not be everyone's cup of tea.

White on gray/silver, by the way has a substantially lower contrast value (78 for a "medium" gray) than black/white, and is just barely ("just barely" = 70+) workable as a combination.

every car has had some form of LED or LCD digital information for decades , and I am still surprised when some have near total wash out with polarized sunglasses, which I have worn for decades outdoors anytime the sun is out , year round, to delay cataracts in the future

you would think viewing the mock up dash through a polarized screen would be a simple and mandatory part of the interior development process of any new vehicle

Yes, you would think that would be basic R&D.

I didn't notice any problems with polarized glasses and the grey tach dial.

It's called marketing, my friend.

BTW, for any of you guys ordering a car, I'd strongly suggest checking the WHITE gauge face option on your build to avoid that, and make sure the Tach is included in the option package.
Or, you can order just the tach in black to match the other dials. One of the few cost-free options.
