I used to own a 993 NA, and the guy I sold it to in 2001 still has it and he could probably sell it for what he paid me for it, or even more. But he hasn't driven it much (about 10K miles), which to me is a big part of owning a car: Driving it.

I think these prices are ridiculous, and it kind of annoys me. Mostly because, yes, I should have kept the car. But also because the pricing has gone into the realm of collectors, and like old Ferraris, these cars will soon be out of the reach of typical enthusiasts.

I have news for you: At $84k/99k without a single option, the 991 is also out of the reach of most enthusiasts. The lucky ones, like us, that can afford 991's can also afford 993TT's, but we instead choose comfort and reliability. So I guess your complaint is that we can't drive 991's and also have affordable air-cooled turbos if we want them?

Thankfully, there are plenty of other very affordable air-cooled 911's, 912's, 944 etc etc out there for enthusiasts who just want to have fun the old-fashioned way. And by the way, there are affordable 993TTs out there too if you just want a solid driver and not a matching numbers or concours car like many of Sloan's are.

I think about 1000 miles a year is very reasonable for a weekend-only driver. (I don't think you will find a lot of guys who buy a 20 year old, oversteer prone car in order to drive it every day).

You're crazy. Just get a 991 with the 7mt, that disconnected feeling will go away completely. Beautiful car btw
