New Information on upcoming 991 Facelift
#31
I traded a 997.2 T4S for an M5. 14 months later, I traded the M5 for a 991 C4S.
The M5 had over 550 HP and weighed over 4400 pounds. Give me my 400 HP, 3200 pound C4S EVERYDAY. I'm happy to let the drag street boys take off for a block at each red light and then try to keep up with me accelerating through an onramp.

Tromero you have not been happy with the 991 since you got it and have been bashing it since. You bought a C2 with a 7 speed knowing fully well where it sits in the Porsche 911 family. I had a 2013 C2 with PDK and loved it. It was under powered which made you ring it out. From a dig the new Jag F type, Benz AMG, and new Corvette would beat you. You had to know that a base 911 was not a drag car. Just get rid of it a move on. Life is short. Go out and get a car that makes you happy vs hanging out unhappy in the 991 forum. That or step up and pay the money for a turbo/Turbo S.
I love the new Corvette they did a great job but it is not comparable to a 911. Its a better value proposition maybe and faster than a base 991. We have several Corvettes in the family a c6 Lingenfelter corvette, a 61 Fuelie and a new white Z06 on order. I built my first 66 Mustang at 14 and the list of American cars I have owned goes on. I actually just sent a restored 52 Chevy 3100 back to Boston for my dad's 60th. American cars are great offer a lot of bang for the buck but they are not as refined or complete. Porsche is selling more cars every year and creates space for each of its models.

I think many people forget that at the end of the day whether someone is driving a car with 300-400hp or something with over 500hp we are both going to get from A to B in roughly the same time. The highways/streets would have to be completely empty and cops nonexistent (which is never the case) in order for you lose me in traffic with your 600hp+ car. A lot of the enjoyment found in driving is the experience. So get what does it for you and let the rest worry about themselves. There will always be someone faster.

Wierd vibe...
I think some here view the 911 as an Ego Replacement. (present company excluded of course...) They are trying to prove something thru the vehicle and not thru their heart. They feel that owning/leasing a 911 means that one should be able to drag race and win because he/she is in fact driving a 911.
530hp, or whatever horsepower isn't the vision that the 911 base, C2s or C4s is about. It is about the everything else, except stoplight torque that almost every other vehicle has. It is about something special.
The Porsche Principle: "Porsche doesn't simply build sports cars. Porsche is more. Much more. And Porsche is different. We love to carry engineering skills to the extremes. And thereby cut exceptional paths. Our own."
So there you have it. I will have my Naturally aspirated 911 and that's all I'm gonna' say about that...

For those who want to burn rubber! Get a Hellcat. What sounds more kick *** Hellcat or 911?

What don't I like let's see I was disappointed the moment I drove off the lot because I felt it was a significant downgrade from my beloved 997 with regard to engine and steering feel. I do however like the new interior. The seven speed manual is the only saving grace that has allowed me to keep the car this long if it were PVK I probably would've hung myself by now .my girlfriend has a 991 1S PD K and I drive it quite frequently back to back with my car and my car is infinitely more fun than hers to drive. At the end of the day I'm just tired of paying more and getting less. I don't want to hear BS about Porsche not having high horsepower because they do make high horsepower cars. If Porter not about power there would be no such thing as a 600 hp GT two

There is no real competition for what Porsche has to offer ! That being said. I will NOT upgrade my 991 to any 911 with a turbo. So this better be a phase until hybrid NA + electro motor combo are in the cards for the 911. Otherwise, the next one will be GT3 :-)

... and based on early numbers, the Turbo is a little faster in the 1/4 mile on street tires and it has 187 less hp..

I don't think I'd even buy a turbo version either.
Very happy with the NA motor!

+1. There is just no where on public streets to use more power responsibly.
I don't feel I need more power. On a long onramp (with a decent straight before merging) on my way home from the gym I can hit almost 200km/hr if I wanted to in a matter of a few seconds. I don't do that because I value my license !
More power is just an exercise in frustration and restraint because you will constantly have to hold back.
Saw a recent YouTube video on /Drive about the 991 GT3 - conclusion was that it was too perfect and at normal, sane speeds you could not even get a taste of its character because that would involve very illegal speeds!
On the other hand, horsepower for bragging rights etc , is another story!

I have watched this thread and held my tongue for awhile, but need to chime in now. I have a 991 base C2 PDK and drive it to work everyday on a 40 mile loop combined of freeway, twisty back roads, and long straights (yes, I am lucky ). The car DOES need more power. This is my #1 complaint with this car. It needs more torque on the freeway when driving in traffic when you need to accelerate quickly to merge, it needs more torque and HP on straights when you want to overtake another vehicle safely, it needs more HP when accelerating out of corners. Truthfully, I do not understand why people think that it has enough power. I have ridden 1000cc sport bikes the better part of my life, so I know what can be done safely with more power. More power can add a better experience while driving. I want both exceptional handling and the rush of speed. Why can't we get this in a $100k Porsche? I am actually looking forward to the new turbo variations. And yes, I could spend $200k on a turbo S, but an additional $100k for more power is hard for me to justify.
