My Basalt Black C2 has clear tail lights. I like the look, but can't seem to reconcile the tail reflectors which are of course red. I intend to vinyl wrap them but am struggling with the choices. I can go with the following: Carbon Fiber - black shades either 3 or 4 D or Carbon fiber - Silver shades 3 D or Gloss black. The carbon fiber black will blend in with bumper, but not sure how it will look. The carbon fiber silver will standout against the bumper but match the clear lens and the silver Porsche & 911 Carrera insignia, along with the chrome tailpipes (not shown in image). These materials are not expensive & I can afford to spend $5 on each, but I don't have an eye for this sort of thing. Would love some opinions. Frank C.

Black. I think fake carbon fiber voids your warranty or at least breaks some moral codes. Avoid it.

Black, however it may be difficult to find a vinyl that is the right shade that matches your bumper. I did mine and the shade is off.

I ordered a sample a metallic black vinyl. I am hoping it will be close, will keep you posted.

Anything other than body color will draw attention to it, which is the opposite of what you want. I looked for a clear reflector option and there are none. Reflective silver and CF look hokey, at least they did on my GT Silver 911.

Also, you may already be aware, but most states require two red reflectors on the rear bumper.

Matched to body color is best in my opinion.

Only way I'd do CF is if you're going to do other CF on the rear. I'm talking with Carbon about doing the lower valance.

You can always just tint them as well, to tone down the red. However, I like the clean look of cars, so I'd go with what matches the paint/color of the car the best.

From WA State Patrol vehicle requirements page:

Rear Reflectors - Two red reflectors are required and must be attached

Just curious, since our cars operate with lights on, don't we have two reflectors in the tail light. My clear lens light glow red at at all times (when ignition is on) It seems to me that these laws were written prior to the day when cars could operate with no lights shining in the rear. Perhaps this pertains to being parked on a dark road. Personally, I think I have a better chance of winning Lotto than a police officer citing me for no reflective red lens.

You are probably correct Frank, but just like driving w/o a front plate in WA....your lottery winnings will help defray the ticket costs. It's another reason to get stopped by our county mounties when things are slow.

As far as the reflectors go, here are a couple of our Acura's ('13 & '14) complete w/reflectors....I think along with being the law in WA, it's vehicle requirement
everywhere.

You play - you may pay out here.

Second that. As another person pointed out, a variation will draw the eye to it.

Aesthetically, that' may be your best bet. A dark tint might get you close enough to blend in, while still complying with the reflector requirement. I've had both dark and medium tint taillights, and most of the time, they look black. At $5 a pop, I wouldn't be afraid to experiment.
