Frunk question

Just wondering...how much weight can be added to the frunk before it affects the handling of the 991?

I was thinking of transporting some heavy weight training plates..I won't have a passenger at the time, so I should be safely able to transport around 200 lbs.
Maybe I should place some of it in the cabin to avoid loading up the front end of the car?

From my own experience - don't worry about it. You aren't talking about weights that are that significant honestly. I threw 3 50 lb bags of fertilizer in the frunk along with some other stuff last fall, and honestly don't think I noticed any difference whatsoever. Front end wasn't dipping at all on the suspension either. And I had a 60 lb kid sitting in front with me.... Now, honestly though I wasn't throwing the car into corners and hard accelerating, but you probably won't be either if you are transporting stuff from one place to another.

Now, adding a significant amount of weight to the roof or frunk could certainly upset the handling in many situations, so no one read too much into my comments. But 200lbs? Not an issue in my book.

Good luck!

As long as your not taking it to its lateral limits, you should be just fine.

As the others mentioned it is probably ok.. Lol so you can probably carry that dead body in there with no issues

On a more serious note though.. I do notice some differences with just a small weight in there. For example I have a ground clearance in my driveway that I normally just make. If I even put a few pounds of groceries I will scrape.

Moral of the story.. Watch the ground clearance if you add weight to the frunk.

Is there any beneficial effect on handling and under steer/oversteer by adding a little weight up front?

I suppose from a balance standpoint putting weight in front of the center of mass of the car would tend to balance out the tail heavy 911. And probably wouldn't be a bad thing from a lateral stability standpoint.

But I'm guessing it probably would be negligible.

Porsche used to do that with the early 911s, but they don't do it now so I'm suspecting they have compensated to the point that it doesn't need to be done given the litigious world we live in.

It keeps the center of gravity lower if you cut it up into smaller pieces first.
