What do you guys think of Aston Martins?

The Porsche is the most fun to drive. The Aston is just one of the best looking cars ever made. The Bentley is just awesome in every way.The Audi TT I is such a great design. The C32 is a great car for traveling or going out with another couple. And then the SL55 is my favorite car.

The Aston Martins are beautiful cars. I don't have one, but I do have a Jaguar F-Type R. Since Ian Callum has had a hand in the AM designs, and he is responsible for the F-Type, I guess mine is "Astonish." It is a great car with tremendous torque and straight line speed. The F-Type is not as nimble, IMO, as my Porsche but still does very well. There are two things that make them amazing: 1) the beauty of the design and, 2) the noise. Oh, the noise!

I can think of a lot of pros for the Porsche and a lot cons for the Aston Martin. A buddy of mine got one of the new DBS's a few years ago when they first came to the states. He brought it over and I looked at it, and looked at my black GT2 and thought to myself, my car looks so raw and brutal, as if it's going to beat you up and take your lunch money, and the DBS looked so sedate in comparison. It was shock and awe compared to barely noticeable. I think if we were driving down the road next to each other, you wouldn't even notice there was another car next to me. I realize this is subjective.
A year later he tried to sell it and the dealer offered him about half of what he paid for it. After that I checked them out online and sure enough there were endless classified adds from people trying to sell their Aston Martins for nothing. So the used market is the only way to go if you must have one. Let someone else take the massive hit.
In addition to the free-falling depreciation, they are heavy compared to a Porsche without enough additional power even from the V-12 version to make up the difference, and consequently cannot compete in performance. They do race them once gutted, but still not comparable to Porsche if performance is your priority.
All that aside, they are beautiful, well made, quality machines, so if the style and drive does it for you, then that is all you need to decide. The rest only matters if it matters to you.

I may well be biased, but I think the F-Type is somewhat better looking than the Aston Martins, which are very beautiful machines. What surprises me, as mentioned by Shtfrbrains, are the power/acceleration differences. The DB9 is listed with a 6.0 liter V12 that produces 510 HP and a 0-60 time of 4.6 seconds. The F-Type is listed with a 5.7 liter V8 that produces 550HP and a 0-60 time of 3.5 seconds. I haven't gotten 3.5 with my F-Type yet, but I have come very close.
