Has anyone had to replace a clutch in a 991?

Right. The engine filter will take you longer... you can't remove the two filter elements from their boxes without removing the rear bumper cover. Simple enough procedure, just won't be a 30 second job and probably won't be 5 minutes either.....

To check clutch wear we used to put the clutch in 4th gear with the brake on and let the clutch out. If it slips, it's worn. Unless someone has abused it, it's not likely.
Had the car been a dealer demo car?
Air filter change interval is 40,000 miles or when the service light comes on.
Plenty of talk on this forum about break squeal. Put copper grease on the back of the pad.
The lip would have to be large to require a disk change / dressing.
Lots of people out there trying to make a living any way they can.

Pretty sure there will be no successful warranty claim on the clutch and rotors. Those are both wear items.

My independent mechanic confirmed the diagnosis and I do indeed need a clutch at 18,700 miles. However he is about $900 cheaper than the dealer so it will cost me $2500 which I still find pricy but what can you do.

This happened to another 991 owner after 2000 miles and this is what he wrote at the time.
"The clutch friction disk wore all the way through the friction material on the pressure plate side and all the way into the rivets and into the pressure plate face! The flywheel side of the friction disk was in excellent condition (other than being contaminated by debris from the worn side) - it had no wear on it. Very strange indeed. 2450 miles. Not sure what the root cause of this problem was, but clearly the clutch is defective having worn out only on one side"...
I do not recall you tracking your car, so 19k miles for a clutch sounds fishy (bordering on premature failure). I would have the mechanic thoroughly inspect the old clutch.
What did your mechanic say about the pads AND rotors.
Btw most of us have had squeals, so that is not an indication of worn brakes.
