Where to get new key fob

Is there anyplace I can get another key fob, my car only game with one. I know I will have to get it programmed to the car, but I am trying to avoid going to the dealer and paying a ridiculous price for it. I have someone to program it for me.
Thanks.

They are tied to the VIN of the car, and have to be ordered from Porsche. That's one item you can't source elsewhere but a dealer - just call around locally for the price. They will require you to bring in the title or registration as proof of ownership along with a photo ID when its picked up, so mail order won't work.

I am wondering why car only came with one key. Even if purchased used, dealer should have given you 2 keys - they should have programmed an extra key for you instead of you having to source it. I would go back and demand they give you another key at their cost.

The Dealer cannot 'program a key', they have to order one from Porsche NA with the VIN number of the car. They are handing you the part, nothing more. One thing that can be tried is to contact the original owner of the vehicle to see if they have the second key. The selling dealer can do that or has that information.

Thanks all for the great advice. I am in fact fighting with an out of state dealer, where I got the car, about the second key. If all else fails I will be forced to go to my local dealer here on LI.

bensonJ is infamous around these parts
In fact the key does need to be programmed to the car. The VIN for ordering is to get you the proper emergency key blade in the back of the key fob. All the keys need to be present for programming and it is done online through something called FAZIT, derived from a VW group system. Hope that helps.
