Lease return checklist?!

I have one more week with my 991 and I'm wondering what needs to be done to avoid charges

On one wheel there is light curb rash at several places, should I get it fixed or how much do you think PFS will charge, if at all?

"Oil Change Now" light is on at startup. I have 18,300 miles (out of 20,000 allowed) and did the first service at 8,200 miles. Why is the light on when the service interval is 10k miles? Will they charge for that or should I get it done (about $600-900)?

I have tint on the rear windows does it need to be removed or how much will they charge me for it?

Thanks for any help, this is the first car I've ever leased so I'm not sure how it works. I hope they give credit for the remaining miles otherwise I'm going to be driving a lot this week~!

Rohin in my experience Porsche has been pretty good about lease returns, especially if buying or leasing another Porsche. To be fair my car was perfect when i returned it.

For short money I would get the wheel repaired. It may cost 100-150 bucks to have someone repair it, possibly even have the dealer outsource it and take care of it. The tint shouldn't be an issue at all. The oil light comes at 10k miles and is indicating that service is due. I took care of my oil change prior to the 20k service so it was a non issue. I would expect that it would be fair for them to charge you the 200-250 for the oil change.

You will not receive a credit for the miles remaining. As a said before if you were getting another Porsche dealer will sometimes show leniency with no charge on mile overage if it is not that out of line. Enjoy the last week in the 911.

What are you looking at for your next car?

^^ thanks for the input. I'm not getting another Porsche so not sure if that factors in the pricing (because for the 20k service it's like $900 at the dealer and $600 independent, I'll just not do it if it's only a $250 turn in penalty).

I'm already driving a 2016 Miata Launch Edition, put in a deposit for a Toyota Mirai, and ordering a 2016 Vantage GTS Tried to get a Cayman GT4 but turned off by the markups

I had a lease return with 40k on the clock. I was over miles, and had lots of little wear items I was sure I'd be dinged for after reading their guide.

I ended up disposing of the car at Carmax - got a fair deal and came out ahead, free and clear.

I wasn't charged for tint.

I had an oil change light that was turned off for $50 in cash

You can get dinged for rash, dings etc. Did you get the lease return package? I don't recall but it might be in there. Or call PFS directly.

I think oil light comes on at 10K miles, or one year. How long has it been since your last change? You might be on the hook for a brake fluid change also.

The problem is, the oil light came on at 5k miles after the first 10k oil change (the first time it came on was at around 7k miles). I was told the interval was 10k miles and I would only need to do one service at 10k miles, which I did. I think the oil light is a scam

The first time it came on at 7,000 miles could have been one year from production date of the car depending on how long the car had been at dealer when you leased it. The time begins then not when you buy the car. You said the second time was 5,000 miles after the first 10,000 mile change. How much time had elapsed after the first change? As I said earlier, the service light is both time and mileage dependent.

I guess the real question is, is it cheaper to get rid of the oil light by yourself (compare dealer pricing) vs. how much they charge after you turn it in.. Dealer cost of the 20k service is around $900 I believe. Or do they always charge you for it? Because it's the luck of the draw it seems. I'm pissed they promised me one service only and now I'm faced with this oil light dilemma

I guess it depends on how detailed your dealer is. If the light is on because it has been 12 months since last oil change, and they look at your service records carefully, they will know the service is due, so they still make you have it done at your expense, even if the light is off.
