PDK Paddle Question

I'm considering purchasing a 2015 PDK C2S. I test drove a 2013 but it it didn't have the paddles, just the steering wheel buttons. My question is how do you actually shift the PDK with the paddles? Is it pulling the right paddle shifts up and the left paddle shifts down?

I think you are referring to the gear lever

That is how the push buttons on steering wheel work.

Correct.
And if you pull both back at the same time, it goes into Neutral.

I have a 2013 with PDK. Right paddle is pulled back to go up a gear and left paddle is pulled back to drop a gear. Same shifting method as was on my BMW 650 and is on my Audi S5 and my Macan Turbo thus this old guy doesn't get too confused with different configurations.

Pulling both back on my 2013 C4S doesn't put it in neutral. Did this feature start with a specific year?

Mine is a 13
At the same time, tap both backwards and release quickly.
Neutral.

I remember reading a thread sometime ago about this. I know that it exists in 2014 991's and forward. I believe it occurred either with a late 2013 build or the 2014 builds. Its a pretty good function for drifting on the track and in a spin to remove any reverse pressure on the engine and transmission in a spin. Other than this, not sure how one could ever apply it on the street.

If you do a search I am sure you will get the correct answer.

As mentioned above, just pull the levers back quickly and release. The first time I tried it I was holding them back too long and it won't work. Just pull back as if shifting and release. It will work.

It's great for sitting at a stoplight and revving the engine to impress girls. And annoy your wife.

I've noticed a few 2015 PDK cars that don't have paddles, just the push buttons on the steering wheel? Why is this, I thought all 2015's came with the paddles?

So is that something you can change out if the car doesn't come with the sports steering wheel?

Yes, possible, and a few here have done so, but it's quite expensive for a new wheel, airbag, etc. If searching for a used 991 I would add that to your criteria. Plenty are out there.
