New car transportation advice 2016 991
I just put a deposit for a 2016 991. Price is agreed upon and the dealer hasn't been fully funded yet. I live in Los Angeles and the car is coming from back east. The dealer is not paying for the cost of the transportation, not part of the deal. I'm wondering if they are doing this to release liability? The deal is they or I will find a transportation service and I pay the service direct. Any thoughts out there if this how it normally works? Also who is responsible if the car is damage when it arrives. Also, any recommendations out here for a transporter who is quality, careful and reasonable. Please advise, first timer.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Give Intercity Lines a call. They are very reputable and a lot of members use them. They will go over every inch of the car before it's loaded and list down and defects. I also used them in the past without issues.

Also, check Reliable. They are a Porsche NA preferred carrier. You can find other threads on this board and RL discussing the various carriers, but Intercity and Reliable seem to be most popular.
As for cross-country -- check out this thread: Purchase Advice Appreciated
I aided member DanInLA purchase a beautiful S Cab last year, and he shipped from PA to CA with Reliable. I am sure he would be happy to provide a reference, and tell of his experience buying without seeing the car and shipping.....
Good Luck!

If the car is damaged when it arrives, then it's the responsibility of the carrier. You'll file a claim with them.
If you ship it enclosed, the odds of damage are quite small. I've used Passport and been very satisfied with them. Intercity is very well known and a good bet as well.

Got a question: I'm guessing this car is already built and being delivered to this dealer?

Intercity Lines would be glad to give you a 6speed rate on your move. Please let us know where on the East coast your 991 is picking up from and we will shoot you over a price on your move. If we can help you with your move please let us know.

I put a deposit on the black one, however another black one came for sale with 4 way seats, no duck, and 7K less. If I were to purchase this car, go I get used 18way seats and put them in without re wiring? Does the existing harness/electrical support an 18 or does it have to be re wired. Thanks

I've used Intercity before also, and would highly recommend them. Great communication as to when the car would be picked up and delivered. The driver was also extremely careful working around the car when he got it out of the truck. He seemed to be a real car person.
