2015 GT3 or McLaren 570S
Hey, everyone. Looking for some guidance. I know this is a 991 forum, and I expect enthusiasm for the GT3, but I also think most people on here know cars and can be objective.
I had a 991 Turbo with a Europipe exhaust for a little less than a year. Great car, but it was a bit too refined. I drive into NYC for work everyday and am trundling along the Westside Highway at 40 mph most mornings. Driving the Turbo was nothing special - and I guess that's the point. Quiet and comfortable.
I now have a 16 Z06. Quality is as you would expect - lots of rattles and noises, but the car feels special even at 40 mph. The V8 rumbles, the steering wheel trembles, a slight jab of the throttle wakes everyone up. It feels special even rolling in traffic.
I stopped by a Porsche dealer yesterday, and they have a GT Silver GT3 for sale. Forgot the price, but it was $160-something. Front axle lift system and cosmetic options. I also stopped by my local McLaren dealer (closer to home than the Porsche dealer). They had a red 570S. Car looks and sounds amazing. Did not get to drive it yet, but I will soon. Suspect that I may not get to drive the GT3, as dealers seem to not even want to fire them up.
The McLaren is $215k loaded, so there is definitely a price differential. But saving money and then getting another car that feels boring in traffic is not really my aim.
For those with GT3s or who have driven a 570S, what do you think about choosing between the 2? Should I just stick with the Z06? Thanks.

I would not decide without driving them both. As background I owned a Turbo and found it to be a bit to refined for me. I discovered that I prefer normally aspirated even if it's slower.
I also have a GT3 but it only has 40 miles on it (winter here). I can say it's much rawer than my 991C2S which is my summer dd. It sounds like a bag of marbles when it's cold, does everything with more urgency, and drives like a track car that you can street. IMO the 991 and my old Turbo drive like a street car that you can track.
I have not driven a McLaren; not a huge fan of the styling but I have not seen one in person. I'd have to drive one before deciding. I've bought to many cars that I ended up not liking once I owned/drove it.

I was invited at the launch of 570S but haven't driven it yet. 570S will feel and look more special - also with turbo there'll be enough low end torque for slow traffic etc + with those Mclaren signature doors. If I'm choosing between the 2, both being 2 seaters, I'd go for 570S

Drove the McLaren on Tuesday and the GT3 this morning. Both great cars. This is a tough one. Nothing like winding out that GT3 to 9k rpm.
McLaren has some turbo lag, but once the boost comes on - wow. Visibility in both is great. Comfort even. Engine is louder on the 570S. More engine feel in the cockpit when rolling along.
Big negative on the GT3 - does not have satellite radio. They can add a little fob, but it isn't integrated. I'm going to need to eat around $20k on the Vette regardless of which car i choose.
Money being equal - I would take the McLaren. It's that special a car. But the money is not equal. $165 vs $210k.

I just test drove the 570s today, and my DD is a 2015 TTS. If what you want is "never boring" the 570s is the one you want. I liked driving it. My concern ( and I am usually in the minority on this subject) is that the large amount of road and engine noise compared to a 911 would be too much for a daily driver.
Definitely a show off car. I was in one for a good 25 minute test drive and got photographed and honked at at least a dozen times.

So I picked up my Onyx Black 570S yesterday. Car is a dream. It drives so well, sounds so good and is a rocket. It just pulls and pulls and the steering is so alive in your hands. It is a big purchase, but I am glad I made it.
Ultimately, having had 2 991s already (C2S and Turbo), I just thought it was time for something else. And I couldn't help but thinking that I was backing into the GT3 because I was trying to buy the less expensive car. If the two cost the same, I would have picked the 570S without much thinking. So I said, what the hell. Life is short.
