X Pipe to PSE
#16
Thanks for sharing your experience/knowledges guys.
As I already purchased Fabspeed headers, I'm going to install them along with O2 spacers.
Also thinking about getting a COBB tune. Once I get them installed, maybe I'll try to take some sound clips so people can compare with PSE+Xpipe setup.

Very nice comparo. honestly surprised how aggressive the x pipe was with all the guggles and pops without sounding drowny. I generally replace the frontish and mid section ish of all cars I get with a proper x pipe and optimally sized diameter piping
Other when sound did it make any performance gain, I always noticed much better throttle response and better mid range and top end.

Thanks VTGT. It really was super aggressive, but it makes sense since an x-pipe on a 911 essentially removes the main center muffler that acts as a sound buffer in Sport (or valves open) mode.
In terms of performance or throttle response, I really didn't notice a difference. Mid-range to top-end power *may* have improved slightly, but it's hard to tell for me. I don't think it was enough to justify an x-pipe strictly for performance gains, but thankfully, I wasn't looking for that.
Yes, there's a bit of resonance with the valves open at low RPM. The AWE system has the same exact issue, but at a different powerband. With both systems, you can really avoid any cabin resonance/drone by being out of the particular RPM range that causes the issues.
In terms of dynos, EAS was great and threw in 3 dyno pulls for a nominal charge, but only after we installed the x-pipe. I ignored a before/after dyno idea since I didn't care about performance gains.
I'm also going to post another video comparing the AWE SwitchPath with my other two setups.

That is the video I am looking forward to, want to decide on AWE vs. PSE. Thanks Christophosphorus!
