Hi everybody!

I'm new to this forum.

I'm planning on purchasing a 991 but just wanted to get some opinions from existing owners.

My local dealer has the last of the 2015 991.1 Carrera S 3.8

Alternatively I could order a 991.2 Carrera (non-S)

They are both simlilarly priced.

991.1S vs 991.2

Which one would you go for?

I would never buy the base carrera. Get the S and don't even think about the non-S version. Good luck.

 

If you get a PDK SC you don't need the S. If you get manual you might prefer it.

Total 911 just did a comparison and picked the 991.2. This was a base vs base. I was a little surprised.

i would get 991.2, i dont like buying new cars that "look old" already. unless the deal on gen 1 was and offer i couldnt refuse, i would take the facelifted base over the old S.

I'm test drove the 991.2 and I found the chassis a bit stiffer than 991.1
No turbo lag at all.
Power comes instantly. It also feels faster.

But the throttle feels better on the 991.1

I didn't find too much difference with the sports exhaust on or off on the 991.2
It's was only slightly louder.

The 991.1 is definitely a better sounding engine.

It's really hard to say which is the better one.....

 

991.2 definitely looks better (except the rear black lid)

 

I'm leaning towards getting the 991.2 now
Should I go for Carrera 4 or the Carrera 2 is a better drive?
The dealer doesn't have a Carrera 4 for me to test drive so I don't know what's it like driving a 4.
