I have to wonder if the OP actually opened the oil drain plug. There's no way that no oil came out if he opened the right plug. Here's a picture of the drain plug to the left of the black oil level sensor. It's the largest one at the lower left of the picture.

Looks like he was just in the yellow, per the owner's manual that's ok, just add oil at next opportunity. 1/2 quart should do ya. Just make sure you wait a solid 2-3 mintues after engine shutdown and are on level ground to get a good measurement.

Very sensitive, add less than 1/2 qt at a time

I agree. Much easier to add a bit more than to take it out after an overfill.

It's 1 quart from the bottom bar to full, so I doubt he overfilled it.

I would still like to know how he 'went to get an oil sample, and nothing came out'.

I think its 1.8 quarts from max to min on the oil indicator.

I think this is a...Lost in translation issue.
English is not his first language, and he didn't actually mean...a sample of oil.
Like, I need a couple drops to send to a lab for testing.
