Porsche sport exhaust vs. sport plus?
Hey guys, if you've seen my other thread, you know I'm about to pull the trigger on a 2017 Carrera.
There are 2 911's that I'm looking at and hey are basically the same. The only difference I notice is that one of them has the sport chrono package and the drive mode selector on the steering wheel which includes sport plus.
My question is regarding the exhaust sound - does anyone know if selecting the sport plus drive mode makes the exhaust any louder than a car that only has the sport exhaust button on the shifter console?

If I understand your question correctly, the answer is no. Once you put the Sport Chrono car into Sport Plus mode it will sound just like the other car that lacks Sport Chrono but has the PSE button pushed.

Awesome thanks man ! The reason I ask is because I really like the loudest possible (I had a 2in. Gundo hack on my 997.2) but my 991.2 will be leased so I won't mess with the stock exhaust.

One thing to consider is that most aftermarket exhausts are bolt-on, and can very easily be returned to stock at any time.
We have MANY customers (and even some of the employees here) who run our exhaust products on leased cars and then just return them to stock when it comes time to turn the car in.
Even in Sport Plus mode, the new 991.2 cars are VERY quiet, at least in my opinion. They really benefit from opening up the cats and headers a bit.
Here are some videos of a 4S with Fabspeed Sport Cats and Headers:
(I could listen to that turbo whistle ALL day; so intoxicating!)
Here is one of the non-S (base) Carrera with the same mods:

Give it some thought. I'm happy to answer any specific questions you may have!

Keep in mind that if you are look at the base Carrera models, there are no valves in the exhaust, so the sound will not change no matter what.
Only the S models have valved exhausts, whether it's the standard exhaust or the PSE.

Does that mean that if you get the PSE from the dealer on a base Carrera, they don't give you the full PSE exhaust setup with the valves and install the button on the console as they've done on the last two generations?

Not sure about that. I have not seen a base 991.2 Carrera with PSE yet. I would assume that if you can order PSE on a base carrera it should have valves, but the standard base Carrera exhaust does not.

Thanks for he feedback guys. So far the base carrera's I've seen have either 1. just the PSE exhaust button or 2. Have the PSE button and also have the sport chrono package with sport response button on the steering wheel.
So mainly I was just wondering if there is any sound difference between the 2.
I think the only way to tell from he outside is that the 2017 now has the dual center exhaust pipes if it has sport exhaust
Does anyone happen to have a clip or link to a video of he PSE on a base 2017 Carrera? I've been looking on YouTube but to no avail.
