Windshield coating or film?

Windshield coating or film?
Helllo,
Has anyone ever used a windshield protection product. I’m looking to avoid chips and pitting.
Theres an exoshell or something like that which I believe is a film. I had my Carrera costed with a ceramic product last year. Not sure if they did the glass (it’s starting to pit so I think the answer is no).
are there any solutions to keep a new car windshield looking that way longer?
thanks

Can also try Bray film that competes with Clearplex. I've used both on each of my cars and been fine with little distortion. Need to maintain and preserve it properly.
If you are in CT, there is a place in West Haven as I recall that does it - should speak with them too.

I had Clearplex on my TTS when I bought it. It was old and looked horrible. After a few trips to the mountains and behind other sticky tired cars, it was getting pitted and rough. The windshield wipers didn't work well and sounded horrible when on as well.
Seems like the cost and service life might not outweigh saving for the new windshield when the time comes. ($1250) from what I hear. It did seem pretty tough though and took some pretty hard hits from small rocks.
I haven't found anyone in ATL that installs it and undecided if I'll go back with it. I pulled mine off.
I have zero deductible on comprehensive side of insurance, so I may just leave it as is.

I use Aquapel. Still the best IMO. Rain just blows off the windshield., easy to clean and keep clean. Only a film will help with chipping but there are drawbacks with those too.
I figure if you are going to own a 911 for any long period of time and you are going to drive it you are going to have at least a few windshields.

I had Clearplex on one of my cars, I get all my cars clear wrapped and thought the windshield was a good idea, when new it was ok in the daytime, night driving there always seems just not as crisp and clear, as it got older it looked like crap when the sun would hit the windshield a certain way, so I removed it and have never used it again. I used Aquapel for years and it works good, although some of the high end wax detail sprays last as long as Aquapel or longer I found out
