Yes, we are very brand biased, but you deserve our undivided attention.

As a thank you note, I would like to give the first 100 of you one of my latest tool designed for our Porsche vehicles:

Hi Anthony, does your device have any additional functionality compared to the many generic $20 ELM327 devices on Amazon?

Very good question. This product was based on a generic hardware platform that is commonly used as an OBD2 diagnostic tool. I chose this platform for a very special reason. As you have always known, I am very Porsche biased. If it is just for any car, why shouldn't I just simply sell screwdrivers or pliers with a 9XX logo on it?
So the simple answer is yes, I will have additional functionality, but just for Porsche vehicles, as you may have already suspected. It's actively in development. I cannot reveal much more than that at this time. Marketing has my hands tied and lips zipped. One advise I can give is: if you have a Porsche, get them while it's $20. This price will go away as soon as Porsche functions go live. I expect sometime in February.

Is it safe to assume the additional Porsche functionality will be dependent on the 9XX app?

Or will it be hardware dependent, so that it will be available on third party apps like Torque?

Are there still promotional units available? I'd be willing to be a beta tester.

All 100 have been filled. However, I am going to give away 10 more only to those interested to become 9XX key customers. Please email me the receipt and we will reach out to you. I will start processing all the credit on or before January 20.

So are you saying that if I buy one now, additional functionality will be turned on in the future?

I am unclear what's actually going on here. I click on the link and it takes you to Amazon and they are still available for $20.00 yet you say above that they are already all spoken for.. Furthermore, the OBD GO app is available on the Apple app store. How will we know when the new Porsche feature are turned on? Will we get a push notification to update the OBD GO app? Maybe you can clear this up for us "not so smart" folks. The ability to clear CEL's for 20 bucks seems to good to be true.

Hunterp27, sorry for the confusion. My giveaway of 100 units are "all spoken for", but you can still buy them for $20. OBD GO app is available on both Apple and Google stores. This app will be used to connect to the 9XX OBD2 tool to provide the current and additional future function. The ODB GO app will remain the same (and will be updated as needed), but the options will be added for Porsches.

Now you said "The ability to clear CEL's for 20 bucks seems to good to be true." I can't agree more. But this is the first time 9XX is entering this market. I am doing this to thank all my supporters. Neither me nor my factory can do this forever, so we have agreed to continue this for until our Porsche functions are solid and released (expect prior to Spring 2022). We will have a lot more to offer in 2022. I and my team promise, from the very beginning, that 9XX Research will continue to provide premium quality, and only premium quality products. No average quality stuff will ever bear this logo. There are those who has the mentality of "a car is a car" and "a key is a key" and "a computer is a computer", and they firmly believe that "a Yugo is as good as a Porsche", and "Medeco is as good as Defiant", and "Raspberry Pi is as powerful as a Macbook but less bulky". I respect their choice, but I will never agree. Attention to every small detail will be what make 9XX the choice of those who won't settle for less.

And just one more question before I order, the Porsche updates will be available at no extra charge?

Very good question. Yes and no. There will be two groups of functions. Group 1 will be non-professional functions, functions that will enhance driving experience and does not require deep automotive knowledge (although some of them do require automotive knowledge, but we feel that our assistance should be sufficient). Group 2 will be professional functions, functions that do require professional knowledge, functions that are usually available thru professional tools like PIWIS III and Snap-on brand scanner. Group 1 will be free. Group 2 will vary in pricing. Details about list of functions are trade secret and cannot be revealed, but I promise that you cannot get anything close to that for $20. Please be sure that your Porsche must have OBD2 to take advantage of it. Also, I know that 996 cannot take advantage of anything we are developing. 997.2 and up are better. 992 will get a whole lot out of it. And for that reason, it is logical to expect new 718, 971, New Cayenne, Macan, and Taycan will get a lot of new free features for free. I know I can't do OBD1.

Now you've spurred another question. Will it be able to turn off the CEL on a 997.1 Turbo?

I have a 991.1. Would resetting the oil change reminder be in group 1 or group 2?

As of today, you should be able to turn off the Check Engine Light on 997.1 and later. No need to wait for update. If you know of any 997.1 that cannot be cleared, please let me know anthony.wong@9xx.com.

Hi Anthony, can you comment on what the timeline is for rolling out the new features?
