M-Engineering: M-Tuner ECU and PDK2 Tuning for 992 Turbo and Turbo S

Hi 6speedonline,

We are M-Engineering and we have a number of products and packages for the 992 Turbo and Turbo S including ECU tuning via the OBD port and we also have PDK2 Tuning as well.

M-Tuner is our OBD flashing suite. It allows you to flash your car in the comfort of your own garage or driveway for any variety of modifications and octanes and also allows you to go back fully to stock with a verified CALID and CVN for those worried about warranty or smog. Our powerful software also allows for datalogging to check on how the car is running and update any tune revisions. Dyno mode is another feature we have added for those wanting to run your car on the dyno. Included with your purchase is an OBD dongle that connects from your car to your laptop.

We have a variety of maps available including Stage 1, Stage 2(upgraded link pipes), and ProTuning/Custom Tuning. We've done many iterations of this car with upgraded turbos, upgraded intercoolers and boost hoses, and even Meth. All of these maps are available in 91, 93, race gas (100), and E30 blend. There is no additional charge or extra charge for any of the Stage 1 or Stage 2 maps in any octane. These come with your purchase as you need them. The only time for an additional charge is when you have a custom calibration performed (ProTune).

Here are the map notes for Turbo and Turbo S. You can see different power levels for the different octanes and associated dyno graphs.

M-Engineering also has unique custom features for your Porsche (no charge, available upon request). These are designed from custom code and are not available from other tuning solutions. If you are wanting to add any of these items below, please do so in your calibration request email.
  • PSE Exhaust Valve Modifications (true ON or OFF function, no need to buy a standalone PSE valve controller)
  • Loud Cold Start Elimination
  • Auto Start/Stop Elimination
  • Removal of pops and burbles in sport mode
You can purchase M-Tuner here.

Here are the installation instructions as well.

Information on PDK2 Tuning (PDK2 computer module must be mailed in for tuning)
When we first started tuning the 992 platform, both Carrera and Turbo, it became obvious that tuning the new PDK2 gearboxes would be a well worth-it endeavor as the clutch clamping forces can't hold big power. On top of that, our years of experience pioneering the PDK1 gearbox tuning clued us in to what was possible in terms of changes and features.

For starters, the PDK2 gearbox is an amazing piece of tech. The shift schedules finally make more sense in the various modes (Normal/Sport/Sport+/Wet) and the shift speeds and gear ratios are improved.

The first goal we wanted to accomplish was to be able to safely make big power on larger turbo or higher HP applications without the clutches slipping. We accomplished this through increasing the max clutch clamping forces and clutch pressures and also by allowing the engine torque output to be increased. The results of this change translates to faster times at the track and dragstrip, and is even noticed on cars with stock turbos and stock hardware.

We also wanted to change some drivability features that make the car a more pleasant experience. Our first fix was for Porsche's virtual gears and by eliminating this you no longer get the "slip" sensation at cruising speeds at very high gears. The gearbox doesn't try to fool itself by making a fake "in-between" gear.

Next, manual mode didn't quite feel as crisp as a GT3 in it's stock form. The lag between the time when you press a shift paddle and the actual gearbox gear change was too long. We significantly decreased this time for a quicker shift and a really fun driving experience. I think you will find yourself using manual mode more often.

For those running bigger turbochargers, we increase the auto-shift RPM points as well in the PDK2 calibration. This allows for more time in the powerband with higher boost levels. Those who are Dragy fans and 1/4 mile runners will appreciate this.

PDK2 Tuning Includes:
- Improved and optimized paddle to shift times in manual mode
- Adjusted clutch pressures and higher max clutch clamping forces to hold more torque
- Changes to virtual gears
- Increase in allowed torque from the engine
- Improved times at the track and drag strip
- For those with bigger turbos, we will also add higher auto-shift RPMs.

**PDK2 Tuning is only available for cars equipped with M-Tuner. It is not compatible with other ECU tunes**

*The PDK module must be removed from the vehicle and sent to M-Engineering for flashing. It is located under the carpet on the rear shelf behind the driver's seat.*

PDK2 Removal Instructions HERE.

When sending in your PDK module, please let us know your current M-Tuner ECU calibration flashed to the car as well as any mods and how you are planning to use the car. We will design and flash an OTS PDK2 calibration to suit those needs. If you don't have M-Tuner yet, you can purchase it here.

When you calculate shipping at checkout, this is for return shipping costs to you. We ship all ECU's back within 24 hours (business days only) of arriving to us.
You are responsible for the initial shipping of the PDK2 module to us for us to flash it.

If there are ever any software updates and new PDK2 calibrations, updates are free for the original purchaser of the tune. Buyer just needs to pay for associated shipping costs.

Here is a dragy run from a client with a before/after of just the PDK2 flash on the car.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, let us know via email, phone, or PM if you have any questions. If you mention your are 6speedonline member and let me know your username, I can get you discount off of your purchase.
