I would like to see what is left of that engine after one lap at the Nurburgring running a sub-10 minute lap for example, or a 20 minute sprint at Laguna Seca.

That car/engine has been for sale forever now, not surprised it never finds a buyer, you can buy hand grenades for much cheaper than that.
+1 Making the claim that they have the "best air cooled engine builder, etc" is LAUGHABLE. Just like they have the "fastest Porsche". Give me a break....

The truly good tuners such as Manthey, RStuning, Sportec, Ruf, Mode and Protomotive don't claims they are the best. It's their customers who usually make such claims for them.

Teddy Roosevelt was famously quoted, “Speak softly, and carry a big stick, and you will go far.” Instead of trumpeting every small success you have every day.

intercooler

I use an andial intercooler with a 993T thats running 1bar boost with the k24's and a modified ECU mapping and im pretty happy with the setup. I have heard that the Andials arent much better then stock, but i was knocking running 1bar w/ stock and have no problems now.

I have no clue how much HP/TQ im pushing, but i eat 430's for breakfast. Dont know if that shows how fast i am or how slow they are, but im guessing i must be pushing +500hp at the crank.

Hi Jean, I would also like to see what one of those sub-10 lap cars you speak of look like after one year of driving to and from all the events ( race them) and work and home? Or are those cars being broken down after 40 hrs ? That car made many all out runs at the texas mile at 98 degrees plus drove to Texas from NY and back(4,000 miles)!! There is not a day that goes by that I do not learn something new but I know of no other air cooled motored car doing anything like that.
Tim
PS Hand grenades carry a life sentence over here thats pretty expensive

Hi Vincentdds, Protomotive was at the Texas mile last oct. but none of the other names you speak of were there. I thought we were talking about real cars that get drivin in the street and see track use too. Not one of the cars that have build tickets higher than the cost of the car itself.
I respect all tuners but have not seen any hp numbers like that daily driven.
Tim

The stock intercooler is very efficient and partly due to the shrouding porsche designed around the unit. Many larger intercooler installations ignore that because you have to remove the shrouding to get them to fit. Hence, the newer and larger unit actually becomes a heat sink. This is why many show poorly in testing. It's not that it lacks capacity, it's just allowing more heat to be sucked in. We tested several configurations in 98 and found without shrouding most performed worse than stock.

You don't know much about aircooled cars if you say you don't know of any that can drive back and forth 4000 miles and from home to work, and running in 98 degrees a few straight line runs.

The engine in the 964 has had two rebuilds at least already that I know of from reading the forums, no big deal I know, but don't brag about its reliability for God's sakes!

Here is what one of those air cooled cars on the Nurburgring, after having been in Hockenheim, and having been driven for hundreds of miles on the autobahn at 250-300kph around Germany, another 2 years of track at temps above 110F, beating a few lap records, and driven back and forth to work and home.

If there was enough space, I would post pictures of a hundred similar ones. Yeap, it is pretty common.

REAL cars running in the street and race tracks are the ones that last 40,000 miles in those conditions, and there are HUNDREDS on the roads! The only one-off car which engine costs as much as the car itself is this 964

Really no pun intended Tim but some of the claims and statements are truly amazing.

I like the proto design,(have one) it is just about right, the manifolding is pretty good, I did modify the inlets for bigger Wiggins conectors and cleaned up the manifolds insides, it has worked flawlesly.,cheers.
