993TT Pricing
#16
If I'm reading your question correctly, abused/neglected/crapped out 993TTs are still relatively easy to come by. (There aren't a ton, but supply does exist.) But they languish on AutoTrader and elsewhere because anyone capable of buying a car of this nature is astute enough to know that a poorly maintained car will be a money pit.
In terms of whether 993TTs are easy to come by... well, it depends on your definition of "easy." As with most fine cars, the best examples change hands through word of mouth.
Anyone can find a 993TT for sale, but it takes time and patience to find the right one.

Or, the price is real and the car has some incredible horror stories.
Perhaps you stumbled on a hidden gem, but the odds are heavily against it.
Post what happens as you learn more. Enjoy the search!

I have always loved the 993tt cars, and they are in a price point I am shopping. However, regardless of what I get, It will probably serve as a daily driver for a few years, and I would feel too guilty doing that to a 3.6t or 993tt. At least wotht eh 996tt, I imagine they have taken the lions share of their depreciation, so I wouldn't feel as badly about it.
Decisions...decisions...

Buy a higher mileage 993TT that sails through the PPI. Drive the crap out of it, respectfully, and plan to RUF the sucker when the engine finally does go! That was my original plan and I still think it's got great merit.

I originally got my 993TT to daily drive. The only reason it remained a Sunday Driver is because it has a one-of-a-kind paint job (Paint Code 999) that would simply be a sin to ding up at the supermarket. Notwithstanding, it's why I bought a 993C4S to daily

Not sure if grey market cars have a strong market.
I would be scared for that reason alone. That might make it a good opportunity

Yes, prices have dropped, but not as much as 996s. You can get a nice 993TT for 60k in my opinion. Not a lot of really good ones lower than 50k though. I think that 996s are at least 20% less than 993s with similar miles and conditions, but I do not follow the 996TT market that closely.

Yeah after much consideration I decided to keep my 03 996TT and recently added an 96 993Tt to my collection. It was just real sad to see the numbers been offered for clean 996TT's out there. It is still the best bang for the money and will continue to be 1 of the best Pcars out there (non specialty cars withstanding). I suspect 997TT might follow the same fate as the 996TT. 993TT are much more resilient to these economic times that those 2 and in a very short time we will be saying 997TT are the best bang for the buck. D&S Just economics 101.

Aside from classic styling, heritage ("last of the air cooled"), and a more visceral experience, the 993s also have another key benefit that props pricing high...... limited quantity. The laws of Supply and Demand will forever be in their favour.
Unless Porsche starts to cap supply or makes a radical shift to alternative power (so folks pine for gas engines), each subsequent model intro will suppress prices for the previous ones. Call it progress.

The 993 TT is really a great looking car. IMO the best looking 911 of them all. I got in and out of couple of 996's a few years ago. Big mistake. Never really liked them much and wish I would have gotten a 993TT. Back in 02-03 there were more of them available then now. Although I haven't actively searched for a 993 TT I still look around and have yet to find the perfect one. Who knows, maybe one day I'll find a polar on black e.g in great shape.
