Okay guys I am going to go ahead and completely rebuild my bottom end. Help me decide which are the best rotating assembly combos. I figure if I am going so detailed on the top end rebuild I need to reinforce it. Ideas. Or maybe just everyone take a minute and share their experiences. I am staying single plug. But I am not opposed to going 3.8 at this point. It will be loaded with GT2 EVO cams.

Chris,

I am in the process of maybe soon acquiring a fully built 3.8 993 from a good member who has been out of the porsche world for some time. The car used to be owned by Todd at protomotive and he spared no expense in building it. Some of the specs are: Twin Plugs w dual CDI's, NA Intake, NA bored TB, Flameringes Heads, Reinforced heads, Mahle Pistons, Pauter Rods, GT2 Fuel pumps, Racing valve and retainers. Pretty much full Protomotive 3.8 Conversion. 8.9 Compression Ratio if that helps.

Car will put down 700+, I am looking for at least 800-900rwhp when it falls in my hand. Many people say it wont be reliable but we will see. This will not be my everyday car.

Sounds good. I just need some assurance as to which ones to use. Mahle seems good, and pauter seems good. When I look at the others out there they look like eye candy. Todd did my cylinder heads, turbos, and ECU. But mid build I decided to freshen the bottom end before putting it back together. If I would have known this was in my future I would have gone with K24/20g or precision turbo of some sort. We will see. I am shooting for 600awhp. Hopefully I am not far off.

I keep looking at Carrillo Rods and LNE nickies for the cylinder setup. But part of me wants to stay with 3.6 litres.

FML please help me decide six speeders. After looking back I dont want a mix matched coulda shoulda woulda car. This thing should be like a perfect set of *******.

Not sure why you are sticking with single-plug ignition.

I have Mahle P/C's, Pauter rods, GT2 Evo billet cams, 3.8L. Currently Garrett GT3076 turbo's, but we're thinking of modding the compressor side with Tial Alpha's....

Al, how much power are you putting out with your current set up? I hear the Tial turbos make a big difference when it comes to spool time.

Well... Al, that's what Todd said we are doing now. Sorry for not updating. We are going twin plug, pauter rods, GT2 evo cams, etc. Only difference is my 16g Billet turbos.

Glad you spoke to Todd, he will definitely point you in the right direction. Best of luck and update us!

600-625WHP on 93-100 octane. With your turbo's, you'll likely be in the 500's to the wheels with quick spool, similar to my first setup with GT28's.

Wow. If the turbos make that much difference I won't be keeping them very long. Kind of regret opting out if the 20g setup now.

With K16 billet turbos I would not waste my money building the motor. They don't make very much power. Tial is without a doubt the best turbo for the 993tt. Choose A28 for the best overall power. It will work well with a stock or built motor. The only difference is the amount of boost you can safely run on a stock motor.

Todd is the man. I can't believe he would endorse those K16 turbos.

The only reason we went with those turbos is because I didn't plan on building the entire motor at first. But now they are done. Nothing has been reassembled yet. At first budget was a factor. Now... I guess it doesn't matter so much.

Sell the K16's and get something that would compliment the built motor. K24's with 18g/20g compressors are a great value for the price. If you have the budget go for the Tial A28's or A30's. I prefer the A28's for personality over the A30's in the 993tt. The A30's will give you slightly more power up top and will be less responsive.
