Looking out for a 993TT S Version
Hi Guys!
I have been reading a long this board for a long time now.
Although the 993 Forum seems to be quite quiet for a long time
What a beautiful car the 993TT is!
I have fallen in LOVE with this car and therefore I am in the Market for one, if possible a S Version.
They are very hard to find over here in Europe and if there is one left they are extremly pricey
The thing is, that this will be my first car...
I have been admiring the M3CSL also for quite a long time. It is also a unique car but doesn't have that ultra uniqueness of a 993TT (or even greater difference of a S Version).
It is somewhat difficult to understand that a five year old car with ca. 50'000km is still more expensive than a new M3CSL.
I guess that is because it is a collectors (last air blown Porsche?), the new price was more than double than a used 993TT...
I guess that it would be stupid to ask what is more rational to buy, a M3CSL or an 993TT (please don't flame me).
Both cars have nothing to do with rationality, but I guess one is a more enthusiast if going the Porsche way.
Sorry for making this post so long...
What I actually wanted to ask is if anyone can point out some webpages where to find more info of the 993TT especially the S Version.
What do I have to look out for buying a 2nd hand one?
Are there any bugs in certain year models?
Thanks a lot for your help!
Hope to keep this section of the forum more alive from now one
Looking forward to discuss more with you fellow enthusiasts (and hopefully post pics soon)!
Drive safe!

I am no Porsche expert, but I think you have to ask yourself, do you plan on modding the car and to what extent. If you do, imo I wouldn't spend the extra money on a TurboS.
As far as the CSL goes, again imo it is a great car. It doesn't have the capability to be as powerful as a turbo, but it would be a great car to drive on the track.
Sorry I really can't answer you're questions Hopefully someone w/more knowledge on the subject will chime in.

A Turbo-S is really gonna set you back and will be much harder to find. Some of them that I've seen have been kept as a collectible right from the start -- they'll have less than 500km on them.
If you are going to mod, get the regular non-S model. If you want a car to not drive and keep as a pure collectible, get the S.

993 Turbo vs. 993 Turbo S
Hi Guys
Thanks a lot for all your replies!
I have done a lot of research in the last few days and have found out that in my case it is not worth it getting a Turbo S as I will be using it as a daily driver.
I understand that the S Version is a special edition from the factory and has collectors value if kept in low milage.
So for me, I have decided that I will be using the Turbo, as it won't be a S Version all year round. I will be putting on ca.10'000km per year and will use it in winter as well.
So in fact I have made up my mind which 993 Version ->TT
If I only hadn't kept that CSL prospect lying around
The market for the CSL is really gonna soften over here in Europe...
Lots of people thought that they could make easy money as ordering a CSL asap and then reselling them with a premium. That theory didn't work out as today with a 996 GT3RS
So there are a bunch of CSLs sitting around at under list and I assume that prices will still fall...
What should I do now?
The 993tt is my favourite but as this will be my only car it won't be as practical as an M3CSL.
Do actually adults fit in the back two buckets?
I have found very good sources like
www.993tt.com
www.911turbo.com
are there any other more lively boards or pages with good infos on the 993tt?
Thanks a lot

The backs seats are made for kids only....l.really tight...I only use mine for luggage and never for passengers. Another reason for this is that the sport seatbacks are so hard so there is a safety issue with putting someone in the back IMO

Wow 993tt vs CSL, that is one hard choice. For a daily driver and practicality I think the CSL is better. The CSL has more cargo capacity and can actually seat 4 adults. Personally I would drive both back to back and make a decision based on the features of both cars that you value(ride, comfort, performance ext). Also, you have to take into account that a new CSL is going to be priced similar to a 7or so yr old 993tt. Take some time w/the decision and make the right one based on you're needs.

There are 993TT S cars around for sale, many very low mileage cars, the premium over the standard 993TT is still strong, approx $50k for an excellent example.

M3 CSL or 993 TT for your first car? May god have mercy on that car.
Also thats crap! CSL a better daily driver than 993tt? I know a guy who daily drives a 600hp 996tt every day up until the time when he got his motorcycle.
CSL is a stripped out GT, it has race buckets, stripped down backseats, and a CF roof w/ no insulation. Touchier than normal SMG and no A/C or Radio if i remember. Plus super low ground clearance.
I have an article that says its just a tiny better handling than a 996 carrera, but the carrera is a far more useful and better car.
Where as the porsche is a torquey, reasonably high hp car that has awesome AWD and leather interior (although 993 int is crap compared to 996).
All 2+2's are a joke in general and very few can fit an adult for more than a short trip anyways. So you can't hold that against it. Honestly all 911 should be like GT2 and GT3 w/ rear seat delete and just have 2+2 as an option.
But anyways, CSL is a crap daily driver compared to 993tt, the 993tt is so choked back from the factory that its not even funny. The CSL is a high strung N/A thats at 90-95% of its maximum power potential.
Good track car, bad daily driver. The normal M3 is a good daily, not the CSL.
You can daily drive anything, but that doesn't make it a good daily driver. I have many friends with completely gutted stripped down streetcars with ultra light flywheels, race buckets and no emissions at all and they drive that thing around like a cadillac. Doesn't make them a good daily driver.
Get the 993tt, you can mod it into your perfect daily driver from a near perfect daily driver from the factory

2 yo thread? I have speaking to a ghost.
I don't ever mind talking about 993TT.
993TT are very expensive to extract HP. Ask how I know.
580hp with bolt ons is pushing it. Rod bolts failures are very common!!!
Martin stick with the water-cooled for higher and easier performance upgrades. That said I will never trade a 993TT for a 996TT
