993 GT2 Picture Thread
#46
OK, I got whacked on the head by a German friend who is ahemm.."well introduced" to Porsche when he saw my post on the forum and he recognized the license plate of the speed yellow 993GT2 that I thought was a clone..
This 993GT2 in particular turns out to be one of the earliest builds, and most likely a prototype, that was tested by Sport Auto in May 1995. One of the few if not the only one to still have the headlight washers.
So my apologies.

That is really funny. My question earlier in the thread was asked expecting the answer you gave ( I was wondering if there was something else that I could not see) . I have photos taken some years ago in Germany of many GT2 's as I could see. I have seen this car and have always wondered if it really was the real thing-- I certainly believed it at the time. I think it was at Freisingers - I am talking about 10 years ago.
BTW-- Germany is not exactly around the corner from me!

Jean - I noticed that the front of your rear flares go all the way to the bottom of the car whereas the factory cars don't. On the factory GT2's, was there ever a side skirt that tied the front and rear flares together?

These lower flares are the ones fitted on the GT2R version. They keep a uniform line with the extra (lower) side skirts for aerodynamic reasons. I have the side skirts at home.
I would go back to the street version flares if it were not so much work all over again, I don’t particularily like these ones.
See what I mean on this 993GT2 converted to street legal, probably the fastest in the world.
And a couple of pictures of another race 993GT2 converted to street legal.

great pics. thanks for sharing.
where'd you find some of them? two of the cars belong to friends of mine here in the Philippines.
This pic I think has my car in the foreground (white Evo), with the white GT2. I'm almost sure its mine, based on the stickers on the windshield.
and here's a pic of my Evo and the white GT2 playing around on the track. I've posted this on some other thread here on 6speed. Apologies if anyone has seen it before.
