993 vs. 996... reliability, maintenance/repair costs + longevity
I would appreciate it if someone could break down the 993 vs. 996 C2 in terms of cost of ownership... maintenance, repairs and overall longevity of the two cars.

Because at this point they are 10 to 13 yr old cars....
My '96 has 95k and is rock solid. I've owned it for 8 yrs and bought it with 25k. Other then regular maintaince it's been a gem.

I think you ought to control yourself. You are about as composed as a child with your comments. I suggest you have a slice of humble pie.

How do you know I can not afford them? How do you know I am not interested in buying them? I would like an answer to this... a prompt one. By the way, you speak of troll however your only two posts on this forum... are ones bashing another member for no real reason. I will be contacting administration about this.

GT42R,
Until he does something like that on THIS forum, leave him alone and stop with the personal attacks. If you can't do that, you might find yourself banned from "your" forum.

993 will hold value better than any other 911 with the exception of special editions like 930, RSA etc...
In terms of reliability, 993 is an aging car. Most popular issues are relatively minor such as door pull or hinge, wore interior pieces etc. Having said that, 996 is pretty solid too.
I doubt if you will get a cream puff 993 for $25k. Most of them are in $40-55k range under 80k miles. If you do find any mint ones around $25k, let me know. Seriously!
So, if you can't decide between a 993 and 996, all you have to do is drive both. If you like the old school look and feel, 993 is your ride. If you like modern machinery, 996 is it.

Because like me 2 years ago people are scared that everything will cost thousands of dollars to fix. You just need to find a good independent mechanic and avoid the dealer.

Anyways...this thread is making me seem like a troll, and my only intent is to make 6speedonline aware of what this could turn into. So I'm done.
Good luck everyone and happy troll hunting!

993's are solid cars. At $25k, everyone should own one that can, but it takes a certain individual to own one. The interior is old school as is the technology. It doesn't feel smooth at idle and it has its qwirks that only air cooled 911's have. The water pumpers are a lot more plush with dreature comforts and for many buyers that's what they are looking for.
Now the low down. $25k isn't what you'd get a 993 for, not one that is turn key unless you are a dealer and some lazy customer walks in with a trade.
Personally, I don't care if you are trolling here or whatever, the info here is to be read. Every now and then I go over to Ferrari forums even though I know I can't afford one. I don't stroke anyone telling them I'd buy THEIR car or anything, and unless you do so here you should be ok.
