Collectors Opinion C2S vs. C4S vs. Cabs
I'm a lurker folks so sorry for the noob status! I've had my heart set on a late 993 for years and it's time I jump. I'm a OEM fan and I don't like aero kits or after market radios or add ons.
I came across a local 98 C4 cab black black with 35k miles and even though I'm not a huge convertible fan the rarity speaks for its self!! I put a call into the guy and if it's right I may make him an offer. Does $35k sound reasonable to you guys?
Otherwise I would love a 98 C4S but I'm finding the decent mileage ones to be hitting in the high 50s to 60s. Am I better off waiting for the perfect C4S and ex out the possible cab? Or do I go for a C2S just for the performance and not care about the production numbers (granted total C2S are lower than C4S, the 98 models aren't very "rare").
Many Thanks for your professional opinions!
Best,
Zerbst

First you need to decide what you want it for: performance, track, on street "fun factor", looks, etc. Everything you name (C4S, C2S, cab) hits a different desire.
Cabs are great if you love the top down driving experience (I own a 95 cab), but are not the best overall as far as performance. They flex a little, and you normally can't track them. If you plan to use it all the time, a C4/C4S is a good choice because they are great in the weather.
From an overall "what's most desired in the world of the 993" standpoint, I would go with a C2S. It's got the wide body looks, and the traditional RWD. They for some reason have held their value very well. Oh, and ALL 98 rear wheel drive cars are C2S.
We sell a lot of C4S and narrow body C2's and cabs, not many C2S's mainly because not many are available out there.
Just my 2 cents.

C2s is probably the most collectible, followed by the turbo and then the C4s. Standard C4 narrow-body cars suck I'd never buy one. The only convertible I'd consider really valuable would be the C2s convertible. Yes they made a few of them in 1998 and they are worth a ton of money.

Depends on what you want, personally, the C2S is a hefty premium over a regular C2 just to get wider rear fenders.(IMHO) C4S is worth it as it is the turbo without the turbo motor (turbo brakes, suspension, body etc...) If you are collecting, and are looking for an investment, the C2S will maintain as there are fewer of them.
Beverly Hills Porsche had 5 wide body cabs made and sold them as C2S cabs. I think those are the only WB cabs that are considered "Factory" there are a few 993 cabs that have been modified however, so if you come across one, it is could be REALLY valuable ( one of the 5)

From the three choices you give, the C2S has the lowest production numbers and is the most rare of the three. There are figures you can find for imported units to the US, If I remember correctly, in one of the years of the 993 there is only one c4 coupe- now that's rare, kinda.
