How hard is it to find a RS 993?

Starting my search for 993 and would really like to find a 95/96 RS. Is this going to be pretty much impossible to do? Car will be for a weekend toy and possibly DE events. Any thoughts?

In the US? 99.9% impossible. You can find some with RS parts, but one with the 3.8 will be hard (especially street legal).

Were there not a few sold in the US? Seems like I had read something like 500 or so. This could very likely be incorrect.....

Well crap....thanks for the info however. Just have to go for a nice C2 or C4 instead I guess.

Or maybe go for a RS America car. I sure do like the 993 body though.

There are a couple of nice C2's with all of the stuff done to them (Including the 3.8) running around. Those cars are likely not for sale. I contemplated doing the complete conversion on my old 95 C2 but opted to buy a 996 GT3 instead.

There are a few 993RS's in the US (probably less than 5 that are registered for road use). There is a guy in the PCA (lives in Dallas) who brokers them into the country and performs all the DOT work.

Could you probably be talking about a C2S or C4S? Those were ship to the US in small numbers..

You need to put SUV suspension and rubber bumpers on it, but once you get it home you can put it back again.

It will end up costing more then a new GT3, but a 993RS or RSCS.... wow

A real 993 RS will cost you $125-175k to get into the country. If you are looking for a 993 to track/race, check out my listing. You will not be disappointed.

Thanks for the info guys. I guess maybe i saw a few pics of a couple of Euro spec cars in the US and just assumed that there were a few sent over.

Probably going to go back to looking for a RS America car.

I wouldn't let that deter you from the 993.

I don't know your experiences, but drive a NB 993 coupe, I think you will fall in love. It is the perfect balance of modern & classic Porsche.

The car can be converted to RS spec, which is light weight all business.

Then call Gert for the 3.8 heads,P&C's,cams and what not.

There are 4 road legal 993RS cars in North America, one is silver in the Boston area, one Red in California, one Blue owned by Jerry Seinfeld, and my yellow one in the pacific northwest. An additional 5 clubsport cars are also in North America however are not road legal due to welded in cage not compliant with DOT. The 993RS has become expensive in recent years with prices at $100K euro for excellent examples and sometimes more for a basic version with the right equipment. With the current exchange rate an RS in over $150K plus an additional $25K for shipping, tax, EPA and DOT testing, conversion, and compliance. A good example with low kms will cost every bit of $175K.

Here is the polar silver one formerly living here in the pacific northwest. This basic version example is one of the cleanest in the world. This one is equipped with the full Clubsport aero package offered on the basic version.

Amazing, worth every nickel. I would take that car far before a 997 GT3RS.

These cars are melting my heart.
