Purchase a 993 in this state of economy... Please shed some light!

Which brings me to my recommendation : buy a 993TT or 996TT. Both of them are already very low on the depreciation curve....and way more fun to drive than the normally aspirated throw away engines. Not trying to create a stir, but any Porsche car with a GT1 derived engine is in a different league.
To top it off, the GT1 engine will be replaced for economical purposes (most probably as of 2010) and most probably be sought after in the decades to come.

As for the market, I say we just ride it out. If your portfolio is well balanced you should weather the storm. I actually have quite a few clients who still have large cash positions (35-45%) that I am close to pulling the trigger on some buys for. Easier said than done, but in hindsight the best buys are usually made when you are a little uncomfortable making them. We will see what the election brings us, too.[/quote]
hope you didnt pull the trigger for any of your clients...
its ALL ugly at 11 year lows

I regret not getting the TT every day.
I only smell your exhaust when we ride. 283 just doesn't cut it. I need at least 400 .

I thought that $47k was too much as well. Heck one 6speed member is selling his 96 C4S Black/Black w/50k miles for $44k (full service history too). That's a way better deal in my mind.
As for the economy I'm looking for a 993 (undecided on color - Arena Red or Black) but I'm planning on waiting for the next 6 months to see what happens (job). If I'm still in my role then I'll pull the trigger and benefit from being a cash buyer.

I just paid $26k for my '97 C4S with 100k miles. He just did $4,500 worth of work and put brand new GoodYear F1's on all 4 corners... ~$6,000 worth of stuff in total. Be patient, the deals are out there... it's my second 993, these things are tanks (very mechanically sound cars)....

With that mileage it appears to be good.
I'm looking at 96 C4S's, 97 C4S's and 97 C2S's and they all appear to be in that pricing range. I've just missed out on a black/black 96 C4S that I could have potentially bought around $40k that had 52k miles if that helps you figure out pricing.
Yours appears to have low mileage for a 97 so go for it if its the color and 993 you want.
