Pending 993 Purchase
Hello Everyone:
I have a quick question regarding a pending Porsche purchase. The car is a 1995 Porsche 993 Carerra C4 with 51,000 miles. I agreed on a price and told the Porsche dealer that I would fly in pick up the car and drive it home, which will take 8 hours to drive. When the dealer heard this the he informed me that the 60k planned maintenance has not been performed on the car. Any ideas as to how to handle?
Best regards,

PS: This is my first time ever owning a Porsche and I feel like a kid in a candy store!

rather than spend 2K for the 60k service at the stealership, do it yourself. Working on these cars is quite easy. Just get a service manual. Also check websites like pcar, there are tons of pictures to help you out.
Enjoy your car!!!

I agree completely, start enjoying the car as soon as yo can. I have been able to do more of my own Maintenance on this car than any of my previous cars. I say the sooner you start driving your new 993 the better!

Even if you don't decide to service the car yourself, I'm not sure I understand why you should do the 60k maintenance 9000 miles early.

Have them do the service before you pick it up. I'm sure they'll give you a deal. Even though you're well under the mileage for the 60k service, the car is 14 years old. Cheap insurance. Most of these service intervals set by the manuf's are working under the assumption you'll at least be driving 10K a year. Your new car is very low mileage, relatively speaking. I don't know what goes into a 993 60K service, but for $2K plus, I'm sure it's some important stuff.
