New Member, Engine rebuild coming, what's the shopping list?
Good morning!
I'm a new member from San Diego. I have a Silver '97 993 Cabrio. It's got just under 101K on the clock. I've had it for about 6 months or so. It ran pretty rough when I first got it but I've gone through it a little at a time and its running ok right now. Replaced O2 sensors, plugs, wires, distributor caps and the coils (one was cracked and arcing). It runs pretty smooth now. It does have some valve noise, especially on the left side. I'm told its due for a top end rebuild and a bottom check. Such fun, not to mention money. Being the frugal type, I don't want to have to pull the motor twice, so I'd like to replace all those while-we're-in-here type stuff. Figured on clutch, flywheel, all the seals and that type of stuff.
I'm a long time BMW guy, so I won't pretend to know all the things that can go on these cars. So, I figured as long as I was signing up, I'd make my introductions and ask for a shopping list. In the meantime, I'll get busy scouring all the old posts and FAQ's so I won't be too annoying
If anyone can help me get this done right the first time, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks for the tip.
I kind of like the feel of this board. While Rennlist is helpful, I try to stay off of it as I just get a lot of business questions if I post over there. I'll lurk though

If your doing the top end, there really isn't all that much other stuff. Most problem area are already taken care of, like the valve covers & timing covers. Just take car of tune up stuff, like plugs, filters, etc..
Yea, it's a good time to do the clutch & flywheel.
