I have done a few things to my car but I am still not satisfied with the power. My questions are; Short shift kit or not? What brand?
Exhaust? What brand? I am currently running the car catless and am wondering if I can even gain any hp from doing a exhaust change. The car is already chipped and has the sport airbox with K&N. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Luis

You are not going to get much if any horsepower above what you've already achieved from the chip change. If you really need more hp, the best way is to supercharge your car or sell it and buy a turbo (I'm serious).
A short shift kit will change the feel of the box but doesn't allow you to shift any faster (our gearboxes are not designed for that).
Mufflers (or headers) will change the sound but not make much improvement in hp.

exhaust won't do anything HP wise. The factory did a good job in that dept.
Best bang is LWF, and regear transmission. You might also consider putting the car on a diet!!
Remove the K&N.....the factory set up is way better.
You might consider putting the cats back on, these cars seem to like a little back pressure. I was funning Fabspeed supercup exhaust.....and when I put the stock mufflers back on, I got more lower end toque>

pmcg, The airbox I have is the factory "sport sound package" airbox with a factory size K&N filter inside of it. Are you saying that the original non ventilated airbox and paper filter are better than this setup? I am waiting for the clutch and flywheel (My car only has 38,000 miles) but they are definately on my list. There are a couple of exhausts out there that claim hp gain (B&B, Fabspeed etc) When I changed out the airbox/filter and took the cats out I think I felt the differnece(1st mods that I did to the car). If I go to the Fabspeed Loud muffler; will I just be making my already loud car louder? Is their hp gain claim bs?
Thanks,
Luis
Thanks,
Luis

The factory air filter is MUCH better than the K&N!
your airbox, if "motorsound" shoud have holes in it!....if not, you can drill the holes your self. Check out .....p-car . com
I had fabspeed supercups on my car for about 2yrs!....I just took them off, and put on a set of RSR"s....(see P-car . com) I gained alot of lowend torque. With 993s most "huge HP gains from exhaust, and airfilte swaps" are a bit of reach!...think about it..if these items could add 30hp or more.....don't ya thing Porsche would have done it!...
do the LWF asap!....it will lose about 17 or so pounds of rotating mass!! and your car will rev like never before!!...you will love it, and the cool part!....the LWF is about the same price has the stock dual mass flywheel!!!!

Yep, that's a pretty logical thought...but, then you look at the dampers they put on these things and scratch your head...

pmcg,
Do you still have the supercups? Do you want to sell them? Yes, my airbox has holes in it. Ive followed the P . car site for a while and found many interesting things. How much were the rsr's?

Luis,
Yes I still have supercups. I don't think they would fit your car, my car is a c4s(wide body)
Robin of P-car . com can quote you a price. He is the inventor of "RSR's"
When I am tracking the car, I love the supercups....but for street use....I love the RSR's

IIRC Porsche did not make the "dampers" Porsche used Monroe shocks.

I think I spoke with you before Marc. I was there with my father and he was looking for stuff to do to his GT2. A dude showed us around the shop and showed us the Black 993tt that you posted before. Was that you? I will swing in there with my car one of these day. Thanks.

That was me, I put two and two together a few days ago and figured that that was you and your father. The black 993 is back here actually. The owners son backed into it over the weekend, so it is felling pretty hurt right now. But we can rebuild it better and stronger!!!
