Not an option by Porsche. It was done aftermanrket. The european RS cars had 3.8's in them, the spec used for the conversion was probably close to them. The performance will definately be better than a regular 993. 300+hp vs. 282 hp.

actually, the performance gain is minimal, but it would still be nice to have. If it was done right it cost a TON to do for minimal gain. Not the best mod financially-speaking, but if you get it for nothing extra, great. Don't pay too much for it.
The major difference/advantages of the 993RS (I drove a real one) are - weight, suspension, weight, suspension, cage, weight, rarity, weight, and last 3.8 vs. 3.6. Oh, and really nice wheels and rare (in this country, since they were not imported by Porsche).

I'd just go with the TPC supercharger =O)
I went 3.8L and supercharged it. Oh torque!
But teh supercharger alone is the best bang for your buck.

there were no factory upgrade from 3.6 to 3.8
there is a huge amount of aftermarket suppliers
Cargraphic\FVD etc
but to get your engine to RS spec to will have to spend $$$$$
cylinders\liners\cams\intake\exaust\heads and tons of time
all around about 40k euro (for c2)....

Confusion?
I think there may be a little confusion here. The U.S. code for the power kit in both the Turbo and later the standard 911 was X51. Not sure if the European code was the same for a different motor but I would doubt it.

You meen factory fit from carnewal? Or from p.dealer?
I always thought that it's an assembled kit not truly factory one.
