Reasons to get a 996tt over a 348/355 Ferrari?

Every car guy NEEDS to own a Ferrari at some point in their lives. I don't think that of ANY other brand. Is this your time?
As far as major services go, yes the basic service is $6k.......but there's NO WAY there won't be something else found that needs replacing. $10k repair bills are pretty common, at any time........
Don't buy one without a $10k buffer.....and put in another $1 for every mile.....or a minimum of $3k per year.
BTW, recommended belt servicing is 3 years, not 5.

If your gonna really drive, get the Porsche....and be a driver.
If your just trying to strike a pose.....well be a poser.
Really, Ferrari's are very nice and I'd have one if I had the $$$, after I had a stable full of P-cars.

Thanks everyone for your comments and feedback. Based on this and further consideration, I am not going to look to get into a Ferrari at this point in my life until I am at the point of having that much disposable income to deal with maintenance and upkeep costs (although I will probably spend about the same on mods to a 996tt . So the search goes on for a nice well maintained 01/02 996tt black/black 6 speed.

You have a Gallardo, so you've kind of scratched the itch.......but there's a mystique about Ferrari that no other car has.
I almost bought one when looking at my 996TT, but wasn't quite prepared for the ownership experience. Things will be different in 4 years when I get to a decision point again.

I made the same decision.
I had a line on a pretty good deal on a f355. Then I saw the invoices for the yearly service and they totaled $5K every time the seller took the car in.
I will own one some day, just not now.
In the interim, my new TT should tide me over.

Go with the Ferrari if you can afford it... You are paying for exclusivity.. Nothing wrong with the TT but it's like the honda civic nowadays.. Everybody has one...
If you want a fast car, then go with the TT. The 355 or the 360 is not even close in terms of power...

I'd also plan on owning a Ferrari, but I'll wait until the 360 prices come down. According to what I've read the maintenance is cheaper. That is if you can consider maintenance on a 360 to be cheap.

I'm not a fan of the 360 styling -- like the 355 better -- but as the 360 prices come down it will without a doubt push the 355 prices down -- which is good for us future buyers
