Valet Driver Bad News

I saw a black turbo being run hard down J street in Sacramento tonight. I heard the car comming around the corner and looked back and saw a valet driver in a black turbo, he look at me and then punched it down the road. I was on foot and the car looked dead stock to me, I was wondering it was anyone here. It sucks that young kids get to tear up our cars. I never valet and never will. This all happened around 7:30ish

I used to valet and can tell you that these guys are the serious minority. At one place I would often work, a high end restaurant in a very wealthy area, we got cars like 997TTs, Bentley GTs, etc, but the patrons also knew us by name and trusted us.

If you don't know the valet by name and trust him, don't leave a car like a 996TT with him. Take the DD or park yourself.

I can't bunch all valet's together. I am sure some are good. It's unfortunate that a few ruin it for all.

I choose to always park my car and give the valet a healty tip to leave it up front and I keep the keys. Works every time and It makes there place look good with my car out front.

If I pull up to a valet location (restaurant, hotel) I'll ask the valet "Ok if I self park it right here [point to a spot somewhere at the front of the establishment] and I'll take the keys" while holding a $20 or 2 (depending on where it is and how long I'll be)

THey usually say yes. On occasion they've let me self part in a prime spot in the lot. Hardly ever flat our refused.

Sacto? A local car...

i do the same! park it myself up front (keep the keys) and tip them well. peace of mind! I once had a bad experience at a paid parking lot (nyc) and even though i tip the valet well my mistake was to leave the keys, when i came back to pick-up my car, car was gone!

I dunno why they bother w/ this concept of valeting? Are ppl really that lazy? I hate having to think of whether to risk valeting or pay extra to park somewhere else and further away.
