What's my car worth?

Strangest thing-- some guy walks over to me in a mall parking lot this weekend and offers to buy my car. All he said was "Love your car, what year is it?" ('04) and he said "how many miles (13k) and when is the warranty up?" (2/09). and he said he's been looking for this color combo for some time and loved the lowered stance (my car has the x73 set up). He walked around the car for a minute and then offered $90k, which 'aint a bad number in a parking lot. It seems low to me given the msrp but I'm not really that in tune with the current market and I suppose that was his opening offer. Maybe the whole thing was bs, who knows. I told him thanks but I'm enjoying the car and not selling, so he gave me his card and said call if I change my mind.

I'm still not selling, but it got tme thinking that a 997 TT would be sweet... what's my car worth?

'04 TT cab with 13k on the clock that's prety much bone stock except x73 suspension and factory short shifter. Excellent condition and full factory warranty until February '09.

Maybe I should be calling the dude before he gets the shopping itch and hits another mall.

Thanks. GBG

I own an 04 cab as well. 15k miles. Immaculate over 50,000 in mods. Great color combo. If I was offered 90 I would say no.

In california you could get as much as 95 to 100 depending on how long you waited. For a quick sale 90 is great!!

I'd imagine if he was willing to offer $90K off the bat he would probably settle for $95K.

Thanks guys. I like my car, and 90-95k won't get me a new TT cab, so I'm not gonna bother calling him. Even if 90-95k could get me a slightly newer car than than my '04 cab, I biught this car new and have got it the way I like it (x73, ssk, thick steering wheel, good color combo) so I'm gonna stick with it. Plus, I don't have the time these days to engage in the hunt for a new car. Thanks for the replies. GBG

For reference we just paid $85k for our '04 CPO'd TT Cab with 29k on it ($151k sticker). It's in extremely good condition.

How does an '04 have a warranty through '09? Is it a CPO warranty or original warranty? An '04 couldnt have had a delivery date of 2/05, could it? Wouldn't that have been an '05?

Your car is worth what someone is willing to pay for it, which in this case is 90k. But this is a RARE case. I dont know what you paid, but you could sell yours and buy a another one just like it and make about 10-15k.

I had an offer on mine too (sorta informal) and didnt want to hear what the offer was, because I love my car.

I purchased the car new in February '05 (it was an '04 model year that was still at the dealership) so my 4 year factory warranty runs until February '09.

He could get a car like yours for 80-85K (the extended warranty does add value) if he put in any effort.

That $90k will drop to $75k +/- in 12 months.
