Tire Choices - Beating a dead horse!!

N isn't a compound. It's a rating that porsche themselves designated. That means the tires have been tested and approved by Porsche in conjunction with working w/ the Tire manufacturer. Basically in my eyes, it's a way for porsche to get more money. You'll also see things like N1, N2, N3, these are just revisions like V1.0 V1.1, etc. It doesn't mean that N1 is better then N2, etc. It's really just a marketing ploy IMO for Porsche and the tire companies to try to get more money from their customers (hence why your tire shop and dealership say don't use anything but N rated tires)

Why are you guys not taking tire size options into consideration? I find this VERY confusing. You can get the RA1's in 245/40/18 FRONTS and 335/30/18 REARS. I'm pretty sure the NITTOs aren't available in these sizes. The increase in available traction with those RA1 Steam Rollers is a HUGE advantage.

I am using Conti's simply because I don't want to throw away good front tires to go to PS2, which is what I have on my C2 and like very, very much.

That's what I am switching to next (PS2). Conti's are good tires, just noisy after a few thousand miles. I doubt that they PS2's last any longer, right?
