Tire Choices - Beating a dead horse!!

Hey guys,

I will apologize in advance for another post about tire choices for the TT. But, basically, after hearing great things about the Toyo RA1's from a lot of people, I decided that was the tire I was going to go with. Come to find out they don't offer rear tires in 30 series, just 35.

So, I was back to the drawing board. With price not being a concern, which would you chose? I currently drive the car on nice days and about 4000 miles a year. I will occasionally get caught in the rain, and never will track the car. But, I do drive the car hard on the street.

Do I buck up and spend between $1,300 and $1,500 on PS2's, Pirelli's, or Conti's? I was flipping through Excellence this month and there is a huge ad for Kumho tires, and when I looked them up online, you can get all four tires for $600.

I am totally lost, but I need tires bad, and need to make a decision soon.

What sizes are you looking for? I would suggest looking at Yokos (Neovas or Advan Sports). They are better than PS2s IMO.

PS2's. Sport Cups would be even better! Just drive slower if you get caught in the rain . . .

I vote PS2's. I know a guy who bought Kumho's and he said he liked the price but the sidewalls were softer than PS2's.

I am looking for stock sizes: 295/30/18 and 225/40/18. I would go up to 305 or 315 in the rear.......I guess.

I would suggest Yokohama Advan Neova AD07 or Bridgestone Potenza RE050A. Both are very good tires.

RA-1's are R compound race tires. Wont put on a daily driver.
If that is what you want go with Nittos

I'm satisfied with my PZero Corsa. I think this month's Evo magazine just did a shootout of 10 different street/track tires. Worth a look.

245 / 40 / 18 match up with 335 / 30 / 18.

You need GT2 wheels sizes and rolled fenders.
Awsome setup!

+1. Even though they are sister companies, the Nitto NT-01's are a better r-compound than the Toyo RA-1's.

I think that I am going to go with the Pirelli P Zero Rosso. I am able to get a great price on the full set up and can't pass up the deal. Thanks for everyone's input.
