Woodster Hits the Dragstrip 10-13-07
Well the final "Test Day" was today at the "local" drag strip.
(It is over 2 hours away).
Here it goes:
5 runs:
all runs were 133-134.6 trap speed.
My best run was 11.03 @ 134.46 mph
this run had a 60 ft of 1.902
1/8 split of 7.31
1/8 mph of 105.28 mph
I am all wheel drive and had my 19" Champions with
my Michelin PS2's that have done Road America, Brainerd and the
Texas Mile (and drive to all events on)
Oh, so close...but no cigar
I am horsecrap at launching this car (very inconsistent),
and a relatively slow shifter (Jean also told me this after the T-mile).
I cannot get out of my mind my $8K (trans) rebuild that I did and not wanting
to do it again.
No excuses, but this would have been a 10 second car today in
the hands of Scott (Dive), Markski, JoeTwinT, or Zuccone.
P.S. My buddies 07 Z06 had a hard time hooking and barely got
into the 12's and my other buddies S/C Viper ran a 10.86 @ 134.0 mph
on a 1.8 60 ft.

KPG, Buddy, Rob, Powell,
Thanks guys, it was a fun day and just shows us once again how
amazing these 3.6 TT's are. Really mind boggling when you think of it.
KPG, your time will soon come, we all know that once your package is sorted out,
it will be a force to be reckoned with.
I also did not have the intestinal fortitude to turn up the boost and get near
my "break horsepower"...I cannot afford to.
Cheers,
MK

Marty - Keith backed up his 10.86 run with another 10.85 on the next pass. He was running very well. You both made some good passes and have some great times to show. I guess new street tires with only the miles I put on driving to the track and my heavy gas foot make for bad launches in the Z06. I posted a best of 12.2 at 121mph with a crappy 2.038 60 ft time. I was hoping to crack into the 11's on my first day - but it just wasn't in the cards.

Marty,
Congratulations on some very strong performance numbers. Todd told me 10's with our package is very tough on street tires. He indicated I would need drag radials to enter the 10's. I still think 10.9's are achievable with our cars on street tires, but it's not easy. As the temps get a lot cooler this time of year and the car's run better, the pavement gets slicker due to the cold...and tougher to hook up. I am planning to to try one more time this year on street tires, weather permitting - only 2 weeks left here and the track closes.
What boost and octane did you run?

Nice job Marty! I regret not meeting you at the Tx Mile. I had a dozen setbacks that Saturday and did not arrive until afternoon. Missed your runs but caught Bello and Tommys. Anyway, great going on both endeavors and I hope to see you at Y2K or the next TX Mile.
