engine drop
unvmym3,
actual time for an experienced Porsche tech to drop a turbo engine should be in the 3 hour range, but actual time almost never has anything to do with what you pay. Cost for this is hard to say, removing the engine is usually part of a bigger picture which is where the $$$$ part is determined.

I think that might be me. From Luxury Motor's. Is it the same one?
Yes, I have done buckets to the car, it is so far from stock now it's unreal. The car has been ultra reliable even with the modding madness that has taken place.

Yep, that's the one! It's good to hear that the car worked out. I had sold my '02 TT about the time I looked your car over; just bought a new one - '04 TT X50 Cab with 275 miles on it. I hope it turns out as good as yours!

Thanks for giving her the once over!
Congrats on your new purchase, sounds like a sweet car. These cars are built like tanks so I am sure it will be just as reliable.
Any plans on modding her?

I had the same problem.........not a big deal but you do need to pull the motor. Good luck!

unvmym3,
the oil cooler(oil/water heat exchanger) is bolted to the engine case and sealed with 4 rubber o-rings, this is what failed on you. Unless the actual body was punctured, which i have never seen.
once the engine is out its very straight forward and simlple. Hope it all works out for you.
