New Battery? Warranty woes

So, I dropped my 04 TT Cab off at the dealer for warranty service. When I picked up the car, the technician came out to tell me that the battery was dead. The tech is a good guy and told me that he would charge it or have it replaced, so I agreed to come back the next day. The tech called the next day and explained that the warranty on the car had expired the day before I came to pick it up and while everything else was covered, the manager refused to warranty the battery. What a jerk.

Anyway, I told him that I refused to pay them for a new battery and to put a loaner battery in it. Now the question, what is the best bang for your buck when it comes to a new battery?

Thanks in advance!

Yeah, my battery went on my 04 TT cab as well. Since I did not have the minimum 7K miles per year, it was not covered. Many folks opt for Optima, but I did not want to deal with a different battery holder, so I went with INTERSTATE
MTP-93 with 850 CCA. Also added the charger unit which attaches to the battery and has a plug-in cord...works great! It is lighter and cheaper than OEM battery which even the dealer told me not to buy.

Thanks. Damn that thing is heavy. I wonder what the stock battery weighs.
