Question Power band difference between ZC k16/k24 hyrbid turbos and k24 turbos

I'm kind of curious to know what the difference in the power band is between a set of ZC k16/k24 hybrid turbos and a set of k24 turbos (those found on the GT2 and X50s) on a TT? Do they both have the same top end potential? Do the hybrid turbos spool up faster than the k24s?

I think top end is the same and k16/24 spools faster ... so k16/24 vs k24 would be something like a few car lengths at the start and then staying there

And you are going to sell those k16/24 to me

There was a video posted here where Adam who had 16/24s raced someone with 24s. Adam jumped out initially and stayed there. I spoke with Adam and he said they raced several times and the results were the same each time.

Hey Martin,

Did you get those bad boys installed yet? Just like Choy said, when I went up against a straight K24 car, I jumped ahead and stayed there the whole way.......

Here's the closest run we had: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5dqN9iw3JcQ

The thing i've always wondered about the K16/K24 hybrids is, since they use the K16 housing, aren't they limited on overall flow. I had K16/K04 hybrids in a K03 housing on my 00' S4 and they were great but, I don't think they were comparable to a K04 set-up. This was also the opinion of others. This is essentially the same idea with the K16 housings being the limiting factor in overall flow. I don't know cause i'm not fortunate enough to own a 996TT yet and I haven't done the research. Can anyone comment on the flow differences between a hybrid K16 housing and a straight K24.

If I had my choice...zc hybrid any day over a stock OEM K24. Just me. Of course, software that knows about it too.

A short time ago, someone posted the different flow rates of K16s, K24s etc.

The difference is that the K16 hybrid will usually spool a bit faster than the K24 and start building boost a bit earlier, meaning a bit earlier torque, but that will subside and give way to higher top end on the K24s.

Which one goes faster? it depends on the tuning that goes with it, rather than the turbos, you cannot isolate them from each other. even the same turbos with different tuners can give quite different results obviously.
