He used Brian Copans and shipped the tranny to him. Brian tore it down and completely rebuilt it with the new gears. Including shipping it cost $10,000.00!

Not bad, when you consider each motorsport gear set sits at around $1300.00 per set, plus all the other stuff needed for the rebuilt., cheers, Sonny.

True but if I can just fix 3rd gear for like $2000.00 I might do that instead.

Buddy,

While you have her opened up you should do the main shaft at least, 1st would then be way more useable, especially for our cars! Unfortunately the main shalf is the most expensive gear. I stuck with all Porsche motorsports gears and parts, if ya gonna do it, do it right the first time.

Brian told me point blank that I would not break his gear gearbox...so far so good!

i agree that much taller first gear will do wonders for driveability. The 997 GT2 pulls 50MPH in first, and you have more TQ.

The 997 GT2 1st gear is 3.15 instead of 3.82. That is why you can get 51MPH out of it. Second gear is 1.89 instead of 2.14. All the other ratios are very similar to the other GT2's and Turbos.

Buddy, you can always throw in a used tranny. I just saw one go on Ebay for $1300.
