Does the dealer know if you have a chip? I get those lights all the time, we bought our car with 600 miles on it because no 04 coupes were available and I wonder if there might be a chip in it. The guy that traded it in bought a GT2. How could I find out if there was a chip?

ttgangsta, take it to your porsche dealership and they have a way to find out

if u bought it from a dealership, i am sure they would not look for a chip nor tell u if there was one

Would there be any way to tell without taking it to the dealer. The dealer is an a long ways away and if at all possible I would like to spare a trip there.

One easy way to tell is at WOT what does your boost gauge read? If it reads 0.6-0.7 most of the time, it's a stock chip. If it's reads 0.9-1.2, hehehe ....you have a aftermarket chip in there.

If it were the upsolute, it would trigger at WOT at full boost. That was the main issue with previous versions...too much air overwhelming the MAF sensor. Version 4 fixed this problem.
I think I have the latest version. The first time the lights came on was right after I gunned it. This time it happened while I was backing out of my garage, so it was hardly WOT.

My Upsolute rep just confirmed that I have the latest version chip. He think the problem may be caused by faulty MAF. How do I know for sure? Can the dealer read the fault codes and determine this?

John,

I had a similar ABS/PSM problem. Mine turned out to be a rotor and wheel sensor issue. Thanks to Brian and his crew @ Carlsen my problem was found and fixed.

Thanks to Fred Courtot, It has been my experience that Brian really cares about helping his customers solve their problems with their cars. Great service, and I don't think he will get to hung up about the chip, and you may find that the chip has nothing to do with the issue.

jro, that's good to know. I get my car serviced from Brian @ Carlsen also. I'll call him when I get a chance. Tks.
