LWFW, Your car will thank you.

To Marty and RobertP. IMHO I really have nothing to compare the RUF setup to , to say its the best. But given there is no chatter, stock engagement with the overall free revving and instant throttle response, how can you go wrong? If there is no budget, its the one to get! Sorry I don't have more info though on it, I will find out and post back .

iLLM3,
Given you have no noise - are you sure you have a LWF? I was considering a RUF550 several years ago and they spoke of modifying the OEM clutch, but I was under the impression they used a modified pressure plate and alternative disk, but retained the dual mass flywheel.

For those "curious" see my thread above with the movie and try to find someone with one...it is an expensive thing in terms of labor to "not like."

I just had the LWFW installed last week and I agree the car feels better, more responsive and I really don't notice the noise. Its there at idle, but mine is relatively quiet. I'd do it again in a second.

my LWFW set-up is very quiet (Sachs stage 3.) Marty, mine was on/off for the first 5k miles, it took me about 10k miles to really get the hang of it, but now at 20k miles or so, those San Francisco hills no longer intimidate me.
the only thing i would point out for people considering this option - make sure your programming/tuner supports it! otherwise, you will stall every time the car comes to a rest. it took Evo a little while to get it right w/ the GT700 program & Hitachi MAF, but it works perfect now.
my old Supra rattled like a tractor. and if you put the AC on, it rattled like a 100yr old tractor. this one is practically quiet with a touch of noise w/ the AC on.

100% positive there is a LWFW setup in my car, and was one of the big things I questioned when buying my car! I am not sure on the specs of the flywheel though and how light it is though, I will find out Monday .

What is your setup??? 0 Chatter???

I absolutely love the silent clutch chatter that is stock in my 996TT.
I'm coming from a triple plate clutch in Supra with a Tilton light flywheel where the car just made a ton of noise at idle and was fast.. At first I got use to the noise until I got the porsche and realized I was living with a Beast in the Supra! I'm so done with the loud noises right now. In conclusion it helps a lot but it my sacrifice everyday tolerance after a while driving an extremely loud chattering cluthc setup. I'm sure one day I'll go back to that stage and start putting aggressive mods but it will be a while until the 996 bores me.

RUF's LWFW clutch setup, and yes 0 chatter, and when I say ZERO chatter I mean it I had several cars with LWFW setups and all were noisy as hell!
