Hi Elliot,

Here is a picture of the "999" pressure plate package with part numbers. It should be sent out to Clutchmasters for the increased finger pressure treatment before installation (about $300). They will request your disk at the same time, as they index the two pieces for maximum engagement once installed. After the treatment, the clutch will grab about 1" off the floor, unless you specify otherwise. I use this with a dual mass flywheel and a Sachs unsprung race disk - the action is perfect and smooth. I prefer the DM flywheel for every day use, as I do not like the LWFW noise. Tony and Drew have both driven my car and wanted to know what combination I was using, as they were impressed with it and wanted the info for future customers looking for a good, high HP clutch package.

I think that's the kit they put in my car...but a different disk. Hated it and they're changing it now. I put 2500 miles or so on it and it never changed feel, like a toggle switch, no modulation, let up real high and Tony and Drew both agreed it sucked. Unlike you John, I do however have the LWFW from Porsche, not the stock DMFW.

Clutchmasters claimed there was a defect in something (same as Airjordans car) and they are resurfacing the FW, PP and sending a new disk.

You guy's need to delete the hydraulic assist for your clutch a la GT2/GT3 ... It will give you all of that clutch pedal feel/grab/bite you desire, trust me. My friend had an on off switch with his in my ex/his turbo, it was terrible. After doing the hydraulic assist delete, it was perfect!

Also, you can not use the unsprung race disc with the LW flywheel or it will really be "on-off". The LWFW requires the sprung disc. I feel the LWF is pretty "on-off" even with the sprung disc, though.

With the dual mass flywheel it's really smooth and feathers nicely.

I think thats the disc I am getting...and as soon as I get unlimited access to a lift, and the $$$, I am converting to the GT2 setup with no assist, like John's.

I believe I have the Porsche RS "LWFW". I believe it only weighs about 11-12 lbs. This is a billet steel flywheel that can be resurfaced, unlike the DMFW.
I think the part number is: 964-102-231-31.
Part number for the ring gear:964-114-143-31.

Not positive if what I have is a "kit" My "Indy" bought all the parts. I believe it's the Clutchmasters kit JohnD spoke of, and the pressure plate is modified, with more spring pressure, by Clutchmasters. You do NOT want an Aluminum flywheel and the Dual Mass isn't recommended over 600 hp, although that's debatable. The RS steel (single mass) flywheel, although it seemed to change from year to year, is, as Kevin said, anywhere from 9-15lbs versus the dual masses 30ish lbs.

Hi John
I love my LWFW (RS OEM) so would I send the new PP to clutchmasters or do you think they could they rework my sachs stage 2 ?
Elliot

Elliot, I'm not sure. That's a question for Clutchmasters. Speak to Louis (909-877-6800) - he is very helpful and has done a lot of Porsches. He can tell you how much clamp force they can get out of each PP and what HP it will hold with various discs...I saw my notes and it was $350 for the PP upgrade when I did it.
