Anyone seen or this? Sounds like a cheap recalibrate bandaid to fool the ECU.

I flat out think this is a scam.

Funny stuff if you look at the details of the ebay feedback....I wonder how many identities need4speed has- he isn't leaving feedback for alot of buyers who buy a unit and leave HIM positive feedback...wonder why?

Total scam.....

First tells you to remove the "MAP" sensor......like the bozo doesn't know the term MAF.

Then he gives you specific instructions how to attach the stickers......and an "approved" location

The only bigger idiot than this guy is anyone buying it

Well I dont know if it is a scam for sure, I wouldnt put it on my car.

The sensor he is refering to is not the MAF either. The MAF is located after the filter on the left hand side.

Hmmm. I am beginning to wonder:

http://www.splitsec.com/

They have some interesting stuff, but virtually nothing on the 'turbo tuner'. My guess is that it simply remaps the signal to change one aspect of DME control- so it may have an effect- but it isn't changing all the pieces that need to change for a real tune.

A

PS I really like the "apply sticker" as part of the install instructions...how rice.

The sensor he refers to is what Porsche calls "Pressure transmitter".
I wouldn't touch it !
No MAP on 996 TT !

I have a Splitsec induction system/MAF on my E30 M3 and it was dyno'd at 246hp (2.3L std is around 200). Once set up it flies!

The quality of their product is good and if this is a genuine splitsec product then I expect it to be well manufactured.

Whether it's worth doing to the TT, or can actually be used on the TT or is a scam etc etc I have no idea, best to phone the company and see if they can install and warrant the product.

Not sure i'd put any ECU modification on my TT that i'd bought from ebay!!!

cheers

Actually guys split second has been around for som time and they have built some pretty solid products.

As for piggybacks on the Porsche, we have tried most of them and they work ok. We have done other ones like the Unichip and we have some success with them but still we prefer to use a flash like the Softronic or something of that nature.

I would not say it is a scam at all. I would be curious to see actual gains from this as I bet it is not all that bad.

This product does work on the BMWs by intercepting and modifying the MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) signal as well as a temperature signal that goes through the same sending unit. This is a very cheap and simple way to trick the computer into increasing boost in order to achieve the targets in the stock map. In other words, it will need to make for example 14 lbs of boost in order to 'see' the stock 10lbs. Modifying the temp signal will then also give some limited ability to alter fueling a bit.

This is nowhere near as good as a piggy-back or reflash that can actually allow you to directly modify boost, timing, and fuel maps. But it does work to add a little more boost (and therefore power) at a low cost with a simple install.

As mentioned above, SS is selling a good number of these to 335i owners. Personally I would want a real piggyback or reflash (not yet available for 335 though), but this product does fill a certain market niche (those who want a cheap and easily reversible power boost but not go all out with mods ... basically nobody here ;-) ).

yea, not sure if the ebay thing is a scam, but split second has been around for a while and make good products.

the SS turbo tuner is becoming big for 335i owners. its a mild tune that gives good, safe power that still has control from the DME and its safety parameters. the install takes under a minute aswell. a big plus.

if your looking for alot of power, this probably isnt the place to look.. more power is usually more psi, which means you will need to control AFR and timing more, in which is limited to the MAF or tmap sensor that these units work.

me- good company with good products, many 335i's running them with good results.
not a ebay guy, so just get it from the company.
