Cost to install coilovers

A dealer quoted me a cost of about $800-900 to install a set of coilovers. Isn't that excessive? They said it would take a couple of hours per wheel. Does it take that long?

Find another place that's not a dealer. They will charge more per hour and bill you for more hours then needed.

If you are corner balancing it as well no way it is 5 hours and it will take up to 2 hours per corner and the alignment

Pointing out the corner balancing is an excellent point. There is installation and then there is installation, alignement and corner weighted. Be sure to check the level of service they are providing and you may find it is an ok deal. But also note that we are in the semi-exotic land cars, so upwards of $115-120 an hour for installation isn't that out of line, especially if you get what you pay for.

Just my two cents! (Keep in mind being a Lambo owner that seems cheap to me!)

Good luck!

Yeah it took me all day to get corner balanced and installed. He took care of me. 8 hours of labor and back and forth tweak of this and that is more than I would want to tackle.

I paid less than you are getting quoted for just the install. Does that install include alignment for that price? I am sure there is no corner balancing for that price.

In other words if done properly and complete with Corner Balance and align,
the price is in line with what many of us have paid.

that sounds just about right with corner balance and alighnment from a good shop that has done it before.

dealer here in Long island quoted me around 1200 for a coilover install without corner balance.

you know you will probably need to get some negative camber dialed in plus some other stuff. you never know how easily the old stuff comes off (or not).

have a REPUTABLE shop do it and they'll likely charge you $$$ buy you definitely don't want a half-a**'d job done on this. $1K or so sounds just fine, unless you want to do your own alignment. I can't believe how many people try to do this work without an alignment rack!

these cars take minimum $5k annually in service. getting used to that is key.

Installing coilovers isn't rocket science, thus any indy shop could do it in 2-4 hours...so I say $300 to $350 max for labor plus alignment.
