Question faint WOODPECKER sound under dash...

I recently started noticing that at random times, i can hear a faint rattling/vibrating/woodpecker sounding noise... and it sounds like it is coming from behind the face gauge/under the dash.... anyone have this problem or experience? what's the deal with it? should i be worried?

PS - Thanks for all your help fellow 6speeders! i'm a newbie with the Porsche world but the few days i've spent hours on end as a new member of 6speedonline, I have learned a great deal of information (everything from tire information, exhausts, headers, wheels, turbos, etc.) because you are all so helpful in sharing your knowledge!

God bless,

Bryant

It could be your aux power timer-Lets the windows, radio work after the engine is turned off.

Is it intermittent and go away after 5-10 minutes?
Turn your engine off but leave your key in and sit in the car. Can you hear it?

I recall reading that there was a woodpecker infestation problem on some of the cars with wood trim...

I had a "whirring" type noise from my center dash area that was due to not having a CD-ROM in the Nav drive ('01 996tt). When I got a disc for it, the sound went away.
