Proto 650 kit dynoed: 549 awhp/ 606 awtq
Went out to EPL in CT yesterday for the dyno day. Attached are the printouts.
549 awhp and 606awtq uncorrected.
The car did 3 pulls. all three runs were very consistant with results.
Weather was cold (i think 40ish deg), so i guess with correction factor the power gets corrected down. overall very happy with results.
--just some info about the car for those who are interested.
03tt. stage 2 from 10k to 25k miles. proto kit added around 25k miles up until now.
proto 24/18g package (k24/18g turbos, 5bar fpr, wastegate actuator upgrade, greddy boost regulator with remote for two files.), fabspeed exhaust, air comes in through gt2 wing to stock box with bmc filter.
gt2 clutch disc + sachs motorsport pressure plate.
car was running 100 octane race gas and set at my "race file"
one thing worth mentioning. car was tuned by john at protosport for race gas at 1.32 bar. this was done on a 70 deg day. the goal was to get the highest safe boost for the racefile possible.
i figured when it gets colder it would boost abit higher, naturally.
i have not touched the boost controller ever since that day.
john said that anything above 1.32 would max out the injectors and make no sense to do. also he said that AFR are good at 1.32 (obviously using race gas) and anything over will be inefficient.
one thing we noticed about the pulls (as you can see from graph) is that AFR arent the best (correct me if im wrong since im not an expert here). the guys at epl told me that its not the best AFR, but ok since im on race gas.
anyway i figured that my AFR were abit off since i was probably boosting higher than normal since we originally set the car to boost at 1.32 on a 70 degree day.
tony from EPL told me that as he was dynoing the car he saw 1.4 on the boost gauge at high rpms...
HOWEVER, driving home, on the highway, 3rd and 4th gear pulls i only saw 1.3.
anyone know why it would show 1.3 on the street, but 1.4 on the dyno. also, how do my AFR's look?
id like to thank tony at EPL, for getting me on the dyno, and protosport in NJ for their help with the package.

Yes, I think Tony is right. It is sometimes necessary to adjust your tune for altitude changes, temperature etc... I think if you have dialed her in you would have seen better numbers! I think Tony could have done that for you while you were on the dyno? Good luck and great numbers.

Duh..Didn't look at the second pic
We did some pulls this weekend and the mustang dyno seemed to bring in some really conservative numbers. A 700 kit "only" laid down 510awhp

nice dyno numbers! I was there earlier to dyno my almost stock (just exhaust) 03 996 turbo 345.7hp/409.7tq , I want to get a baseline before doing the mods. I'm planing on doing the same package you have. what intercoolers are you using? there are a few proto monsters running around nj/ny area. anyway very nice numbers i hope mine are as promising when i dyno it after the mods.

adrian. i have gt2 intercoolers which are just slightly better than stock. i think that is definetly my weakest link. nice baseline on the stock car i wish i would have been there since i heard you have a cargraphic exhaust, wanted to hear how that sounds.
robmd: do you think numbers would have been better if boost was set at "ideal" 1.32 bar at those conditions? issue was that the greddy controller was far back hidden and it would have been a ***** getting to it since i have the gt3 seats/roll bar. would have taken forever.

I am not a tuner; however, I have been around several years which has given me some baseline knowledge. At every dyno event, all cars are tuned during each pull to correct for these factors. For example, the last Texas jam the car that pulled the max hp of the day was a Supra. First run hmmm around 800, second run after some tuning around 1000 and on his last run 1376 whp! So yes, I believe Tony could have enhanced your numbers by looking at timing, AR, etc...

rob - a simple tune ABSOLUTELY DID NOT result in a 576 rwhp increase on Henry's Supra at the TX Jam!!!! LOL, I hope you are kidding!!!! It's called "turning up the boost and spraying NOS"

I would safely run 1.3 bars on 100 octane. 1.35 bars on 104 and 1.14 on 109 or 110.
on C16 u can run 1.5 becasue of the gas...
ur maxing out ur fuel system - that is the reason for the high afrs... so turn the boost 2 clicks down to 1.3 bars and it will run 12.4s or so... where it should be.
if u took ur car to the same dyno on a warmer day ur current setup would have been perfect. Dont make a mistake that the greddy does it all for u. it will as long as u adjust it correctly.
on 100 octane u cannot expect miracles...
good numbers overall...
congrats,

Speaking of a/f, what do you high HP P-cars run? I know for example my car is tuned to 11.5:1 on pump and 109 and on C16 I run a conservative 11.3:1
(FWIW timing is also very conservative)

Thanks for your input but the first run was to warm of the clutch and to check a/f. Second run was at full tilt but cut short, needed some changes mainly do to the altitude and other factors. During his last pull, with these fine changes, he busted out those huge numbers.. or atleast this is what Henry told me during those pulls. Like I said, I am not a tuner but this is the usual series of events that I have witness. Concerning A/F, I am usually around 11.5 as well.

Proto really doesnt name there kits. I think Scott started this with his PE900 kit or something like that. Proto basically sells you what you want and can afford. They are very dynamic in that way which is very friendly to your bank account
