Speeding Ticket - Just got my "courtesty" notice
Well just got my "courtesy notice" in the mail today.
381 clams...what a joke!
Last month on the way back from Laughlin, NV I got a 81 in a 55 on CA 138 Pearblossom Hwy (no idea that section was 55)
If any of you have on this stretch of road there is no logical reason for the limit to be 55. There are 2 lanes on each side and no residential areas, businesses or side streets in site for miles.
I was honestly going with the flow and the only reason I got nabbed is because I was in a yellow TT.
Cop saw me, did a U-Turn and thats all she wrote.
I'm having a hard time swallowing this fine.
I know I should probably just suck it up but....I needed to vent!!
Anybody got any suggestions?
thanks,
dave

Get an attorney. There are many people that can refer you to a ticket specialist on this site.
I'm the last person to preach driving slow, but lots of people die on that stretch of road because it's a two lane highway, no center divider, etc...
Good luck.

hefty fine, you'd lose your license if you were in NC for that much over... get an attorney and see what they work out. I got a 74 in a 55 in some back country hick town in my friends 750il over summer, got an attorney and she turned it into "mis-calibrated equipment" or some b.s. like that. Cost me 300 bucks but saved me points and insurance...I'm sure the other guys have endless stories too.

I was actually not on that section of 138. I know exactly what you mean. Don't they call it Death Trap Highway or something?
I was actually way past this part, much closer to the 14.
There are 2 HUGE lanes on each side.

I don't practice in the speeding ticket realm, but I am somewhat familiar with the laws relating to speeding tickets in CA, and believe it or not California law is pretty favorable on the subject. If the posted limit (55) is significantly disparate from the CalTrans traffic survey averages and you got dinged on radar, it may be statutorily defined as a speed trap. There are also two different vehicle code sections relating to speed: posted limit and basic speed law. If basic speed law was the cited violation, then the cop must prove it was an unsafe speed for conditions. Anyhow, read up before you write a check--search around on the internet, etc. Also, if the ticket says you have to appear in Victorville (I think that might be the case for that area) PM me as I have a buddy out there who practices in that court every day and might be able to help you.

I have posted many times regarding this matter.
I have beaten numerous tickets going faster in Malibu alone with an atty.
PM me if you are interested.
P.S. It is costly, but well worth it!!!!
